Hanzo Hisashi is a member of the Shiarai Ryu and father of his own family with his wife and son. The Shairai Ryu and the Lin Kuei never saw eye to eye and have been in war with each other until Quan Chi's assistance aided the Lin Kuei to crush the Shirai Ryu and kill Hanzo and his family in cold blood.

Scorpion was the hellspawn and servant to Quan chi until Raiden's successful effort to restoring Johnny Cage in Quan Chi's fortress restored him, Kuai Liang and Jax Briggs. As a restored human, Scorpion dedicated his talents to protecting Earthrealm and joining forces with his former nemesis, Sub Zero (the younger brother, Kuai Liang).

In the events of Mortal Kombat 11, Hanzo was last seen poisoned by D'Vorah until the Past Scorpion stepped in and stopped her. But it was too late, for Hanzo died and became a free willed revenant rather than the late Quan Chi's servant as he once was before.

It only happened recently when Hanzo tried to return to the battlefield and help Liu Kang's forces fight against Kronika's minions. However, it would be cut short when the planetary monster, Unicron, seeks to devour each and every realm in Mortal Kombat. The revived Hanzo Hisashi flees from the Netherrealm and tries finding a dimensional portal to save himself from Unicron's intergalactic hunger.

Hanzo wanders into the MMXIX Timeline and seeks refuge in Japan to rebuild his own army to resemble his Shirai Ryu clan and avenge all he loved by destroying Unicron.
