Well I figured I should post something, and I had this hovering around my computer for a few weeks. So.. TADDAA!
I wanted some practice with planets and well backgrounds in general, so this is one of my attempts at that.

Backgrounds are one of the hardest parts of drawing and you do them beautifully. Do you usually make them up on your own or do you look at reference pictures?

I usually make them up on my own actually :T I rarely use reference pictures. Generally the only time I do is if I am looking for a certain color, like in a sunset for example. Other than that, no.
