Description SIDE NOTE: Please note that this tutorial is a few years old and my own art has improved a lot since then. I will eventually update this, or upload a new one completely. In the mean while, I do hope it helps!

*edit* due to dA issues with showing the damn tut, i had to reupload it, no preview image. Sorry for inconvenience with that stupid downloading.
--

The long awaited anatomy tutorial is finished! I hope it helps people, I hope it's satisfactory... It took me forever to do it... oO; This is obviously not for anyone that knows a lot about anatomy already- it's a tutorial to help people that don't know much or need help improving. Please ignore any spelling mistakes... I'm sure they're there even though I did look it over a few times. I do indeed hope this helps people. It's hard to cram something as complex as human anatomy into a little tutorial like this, but at any rate, I still hope some people will find it useful, even if it's not exactly perfect....

Sorry if there's anything I failed to mention- like I said, there is just so much information, it's hard to fit it all in.

Thanks! Enjoy.

Edit: Sorry for the long loading time... >>;;;

EDIT: DISCLAIMER!!! I do not claim to know everything there is to know about anatomy nor do I claim to have a perfect knowledge. I KNOW this tutorial is flawed and is not a perfect shining example of EXACT proportionate anatomy. Please understand this tutorial is not designed to cause you to draw LIKE me- but give you a basic understanding of skeletal structure, muscle structure and how it all fits together. Find your own style and work off more than one source. I do not claim this is the only way you can learn anatomy. You should study from multiple sources, but this can be a good foundation to get you started in an UNDERSTANDING. Again, I do not claim to know all, so do not think that I am. Thank you.

I liked your mean style. Anyhoo you've provided me with Plenty information it helped more than the anatomy book at my library (i threw it back on the shelf in like 5 minutes)

That information is sufficient enough for me to improve on some aspect of my drawings. Thank j00!!!!!

Very nice, I can't actually draw all of it right now as I don't have a scanner or a wacom board that bloody works. But the "skeleton" makes a very nice base for practicing bodies in Illustrator, hopefully I'll be able to draw one nicely without the skeleton underlay first. Don't worry, I'll credit you for the body shape once my picture is done

LOL Thanks for putting this on DA lol I'm tring to learn anatomy cuz I can draw finished product with a ref almost perfect without sketching but can't draw from memory I know weird!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

odduckoasis In reply to Aberleigh [2009-07-27 06:45:35 +0000 UTC]

Not that weird. A lot of people are good at drawing from references, even some photo-realism artists are like that- but they have a harder time drawing from their mind w/out a ref. So, it's all good. ^.^

I'm pretty sure I commented on this already, but since I personnaly get irritated by fav-and-run's and you most certainly don't remember me (not that I expected you to) I'll leave a note just to clarify things.

--> I went ahead and emptied my favorites (not that there was much to empty) and am now trying to keep the tutorials I used or still use for further reference. Your hand and foot tutorials are part of these too, by the way :3

And since I'm already writing a long monologue here, might as well add this:

Thanks again for taking the time to do this for idiots like me who tend to draw a perfect head, attach a perfect chest and perfect legs and hide feet and hands and then notice they created a disproportioned mutant. It really helped me a lot and still does, and I keep using you method (somewhat simplified, I admit) when I draw a human, whatever position they're in.

So: thanks a lot ^^

Man, the work you did here is really awesome.

Since I was like, born, I'm a drawing enthusiast, but I never gave myself a lot of pratice. Decided to look for some motivation today and just found your tutorial.

It gave me a new inspiration.

Thanks for the work, surely a fav. (:

One small note the bone you have label as the hip is actually the pelvis. The hip is where the top of the femur sticks out just down from the hip joint. I'm sure you already know that but just in case you forgot . Anyway, it looks like a textbook page so good work.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

odduckoasis In reply to WorldofEBB [2009-04-18 04:39:07 +0000 UTC]

Well, technically, the hip is the combination of the pelvis bone and the surrounding muscles and skin- the Pelvis is the entire bone that makes up where the legs attach and the spinal column goes into. There's really not a 'hip bone' to be totally technical, but yes, I knew that. It just doesn't matter. lol.

^w^ Thank you for this nice tutorial!! XD XD XD

It's very helpful!!! xD

By the way, I noticed you used the correct names for most of the bones on the skeleton like tibula and ulna and radius. But it's not kneecaps, they're patella. ^.^

Great help! although i read your disclaimer and you probably already know, you called the shin bone near the bottom tibula - you combined both the lower leg bones tibia and fibula together which is funny b/c i used to do that when i first learned the bones. but anyway yeah good stuff!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

odduckoasis In reply to para-g [2009-03-09 18:21:40 +0000 UTC]

lol! I did? I didn't realize I didn't put tibia... that's a spelling error though, has nothing to do with my knowledge of anatomy. Thanks for letting me know though.
