Description
Andromeda was a princess of Ethiopia. Cassiopeia, her mother, bragged that Andromeda was more beautiful than Hera, the queen of the gods, and the Nereids. In order to avenge the insult to his nymphs, Poseidon sent a monster to ravage the Ethiopian coast. After consulting the oracles, it was decreed that Poseidon could only be satisfied by sacrificing Andromeda to the monster. Andromeda was chained to a rock on the coast, fully exposed to the monster. Fortunately, Perseus (yay!) happened to be flying by, and saves her.i've used birds rather than a monster.
Andromeda is being played by the wonderful lockstock , who most enthusiastically responded to a request for this pose. i cannot thank her enough. the background is a blend of images from icore-stock , m2moi and disengagedXstock , while the birds came from various 'net sites.

the Irish one, 'The Tain' (the one about the cattle raid, with Cuchullain and Medb), and there's an Australian Aboriginal one called The Rainbow Serpent which is quite wonderful as well.

Of this I particularly like the long dress folding at the bottom, and the blurred motion of the birds.

two of the birds are magpies, and every Australian kid knows the terror of being swooped by them.

I love that you have to look closely for the chain, and viewers look for it because it's in the titile. Another great piece from you! The composition, colours, everything. It's perfect.
