Description
Australia has just experienced it's worst natural disaster, with bushfires destroying entire towns, thousands of houses burnt, and just over two hundred deaths ..my own house was threatened twice, being forced to evacuate the second time .. thank god for the CFA and Elvis, the gargantuan water-bombing helicopter .. not knowing if you have a house to go home to is absolutely f*cking awful ..
these images were taken from the road between Flowerdale and Kinglake West, which were among the worst affected areas ..

Yes, it was awful. My father's house was in Falls Road, Marysville, and it was utterly destroyed like absolutely everything else along that road.
thanks for the favourite.
'tis appreciated!

Elvis is great; without it (him?) the fires would have spread much further. Luckily, my house wasn't threatened.

yes, post-apolyptic is pretty much an accurate description of the destruction .. although life is slowly returning to those towns worst affected ..

When I was scrolling through, all I thought was 'Oh my gawd', but when I got to the last one...I can't describe what I felt.
I heard about this when it was happening, and saw a little bit about it on the news. But all I saw was facts. Seeing these pictures really brings out more as to what happened and how the people suffered.
I just hope that most people found something to return to, and if they didn't, I hope they were able to rebuild their lives. :C

thanks.
when i was in the flowerdale pub, one of the most devastated areas and gathering place for the locals and most of whom had lost everything, i couldn't quite bring myself to shove my camera in these people's faces .. the landscapes only tell part of the story.
