So, this is one of the other things I've been working on for the past couple of days
along with the cat portraits for my grandmother- a Secret Santa gift for lillianflamegirl2014
I do have to say I was rather intimidated when I got my assignment since I almost
never draw people. :'D
I was waiting until Christmas Eve to upload this... so here it is, seven minutes after midnight
in my time! xD
I do sincerely hope you like it! It took me 5+ hours and 40+ layers (well, with all of
the excessive amount of shading layers and such). I've never really seriously
attempted to draw a human before digitally either, so I am rather pleased with how
this came out for a first attempt.
I would have done a more elaborate background... but to be honest I suck as backgrounds
and I didn't want to ruin the picture if I couldn't get it right.

First of all I can tell you that I think this is amazing. My first human, especially digitally didn´t nearly come out as good. I really like how the charakter has clear chareserics like the thick neck thick chin and noose. The tatoo too!
I really don´t think the neck is too thick. I hav really seen people with such neck, it adds to the charakter but, if he has such a thick neck and chin, his whole face gives out this muscle/tough person he´s gotta have broader shoulders. The shoulders could have even gotten out of the picture. Of course it varies with the style too :>
The next thing you could improve is, don´t be afraid too add to dark colours! with this I refer to the shading. You can go really dark with the shading and the same with the lighting. Do it on another layer and if you really thinkit looks awfull you can always delete it but try!
Shading is the hardest to do, right next to anatonomy in my opinion x'D Really well done and keep on improving!

I think I did end up making the neck slightly too thick
for the character, I'll try and work a bit on the shoulders
next time too.
And yeah, I always go too soft with shading. xD

OK, first off...WOW! <3 It looks so good and I really want to write a critique on this one because I too am still learning with humans! But with my advice on what I know so far about people, I think the only thing I'd work on with this one is his neck and nose. his neck is just a bit too large but I mean all you'd have to do is shrink it and his nose just needs some definition! Other than that, he looks GREAT! His head is proportional and that makes me happy! Great work there, baby!!

I'll be sure to work on those in the future- I immediately noticed the neck thing after I had finished, but it was too late too correct it by then.
Yeah, noses have always been a weak point for me. The always look awkward but I'll be sure to try and add some more definition. ^v^

Gosh I still think this is incredible! ; v ; I think it looks really nice! But I do have a few pointers-
Now I know I'm not commonly one to draw humans either, but I like to think I have some good advice.
First and foremost, I love the detail of the part in the hair. I don't know why, but it looks really nice!
I also like the eye dementions that you have going on, if that makes sense, I really appreciate how it doesn't look like they're both in the same part of the eye.

Okay, however, the neck is a bit thick- I mean, I know the size of your neck ranges with your body type, but it looks a bit too long and thick here. Maybe work on thinning it down, enough to still seem like supporting the head, but not nearly as big. And maybe the sweater should hug the neck a little closer as well, however I haven't seen the character to know what kind of sweater they sport, but it just seems like it should maybe be a bit closer to the base of their neck e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="
I personally think you did really well on the nose, they are not easy to master, however I feel it could be a little thinner at the end!
