Description Christoph-19

Christoph-19 is a rescue helicopter operated by the ADAC, its base of operation is Uelzen in Lower Saxony, Germany. (The ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V.) is Germany's and Europe's largest automobile club, with more than 18 million members in May 2012.)

The predecessor of this particular helicopter, operated under the same designation, gained notoriety when the pilot attempted to fly below a bridge near Bienenbüttel in January 2003. The tail rotor of the Bo 105 touched the bridge and crashed into the Elbe-Seitenkanal (a by-channel of the river Elbe), killing the emergency doctor on board.
Previously, the helicopter had already been damaged in 1999 when a passenger car and a truck ran into while it was landed near a crash site on federal highway B 71.

The replacement, this Eurocopter EC 135, was later put into service as replacement and hasn't been in any accidents.

Please excuse the fact that the subject isn't completely in-focus; I only had about one second to ready my camera and could get just two shots in as the helicopter was passing over me at high speed.
