i have to comment, this is a great shot. i love the way it's torn to shreds. reminds me of that song by radiohead - Like spinning plates. oh well. very nice shot.

i think rugged is the right word to describe this .. because, well, that's exactly what it looks like.
i enjoy the focus as well. always like the blur on the background.

i really like how the black and white work in this picture in order to bring out the detail and texture of the leaf. I like how the depth of field highlights the ruggedness and the leaf's jagged edges, constrasting with the smoothness of the background and ligh contrast.
i really like the frame too
