Description
Thing I sketched last week when I needed a break from working on pages. Just some guilty-pleasure nonsense, because gore+lascivious shit is such a perfectly campy combination and I can't help but love it.Didn't necessarily plan on making it a finished thing, and was a bit worried about posting it; but I was poking at it some more, and I like it too much to not post it. Plus I really don't have anything else to post right now and it's been a while.
Sorry it's a bit off from what I usually post. Sorry, not sorry, that I love distasteful sort of shit.
(of course, any of my long-time watchers who remember Bentley, might not be so surprised)
...I'm going to lose more watchers with this one, aren't I?
Can we just use "goretober" as an excuse?

Yeah, it's not really a scene like I usually do. I wanted to try doing something doesn't need or have context, because those are actually harder for me to think up poses/compositions for.

I think it's the combination that I was more worried about; if it was just gore, which I've posted before, I wouldn't have been as concerned. But, nah, I had to go and throw tits in, too; because the excess is what makes it fun XD
(I actually used to have a character "Bentley: The Flesh Eating Stripper". People didn't like her much XD. I guess that's what made me hesitant to post things like this.)
But yeah, I'm totally using Halloween as an excuse for this one.

Haha thats awesome. She sounds like a character that would pop up in a Johnny the Homicidal Maniac comic strip. Dunno if you've heard of it but judging by your art style Im guessing maybe you already know a bit of Johnen Vasques's work.
I don't mind the nudity either. Not like we can ever take off our birthday suits anyways and yours is more tasteful than most I sift through. It looks like you really focused on where the body chunks should be at and how much needed to stay in tact to show what species she was. Sometimes people go a little overboard and its hard to tell it was a human at all. I think the nipple rings are a nice little touch too. It adds some personality to this nameless victim and makes her seem like more than just another bloody body. At least in my opinion.
So long as you tag it as mature I don't think any reasonable person would flip out at you. It takes a special kind of stupid to complain about seeing mature content while not already having the filter on. ☺

Yeah, I was into his stuff a while back, still have a copy of JTHM.
Dude, I have seriously gotten shit for the fact that I draw visible cleavage on my female characters... like I can concede that it was maybe poor character design to have almost all of them wearing corsets as a default/staple of their designs, because it's repetitive and makes them too similar, and I've since tried to change that up a bit. But that's not what the complaints were.
I think that's something else that people overlook, that nudity is good for anatomy practice. Or in the case with the gutted body, I had to look up references of rib cages and autopsy photos. I sort of had mindless intentions with drawing this, but actually working on it took thought.
Yeah, I don't get that either. The filter is there, just turn it on if you're worried about what you might see. :/

Hey me too! And the Invader Zim dvd box set and some of the Hot Topic junk they sold! XD
People just want to bitch about ANYTHING nowadays it seems. Its that crazy "Tumbler sjw mentality" i hear so much about, or something. I understand what you mean on the repetitiveness issue cuz I have the same problem, and its just a basic part of developing your own style too. Every art book Ive read has told me its something all artists have to work through. Its hard not to fall into a drawing pattern, especially with body parts you aren't familiar or comfortable with, like hands, hands are a bitch. Thats cool you took the time to look up ribs cuz the shots you need aren't the most popular angles and there are so many ways to mess up ribs. And the cleavage thing is silly too. I get being annoyed when its super disproportionate or something but even then the better approach is constructive criticism like what you gave yourself with it being poor design choice, or simply live and let live.
Nudity really does help with understanding the anatomy of these little meat sacks we're wearing. Ive come to find its the only way to really understand them and appreciate them for what they are. Ive been studying it a lot recently to help get back into drawing and sculpting again. Been in a 4 year art rut that started senior year of high school when classes got way harder. Im trying to fix that now that life has given me an opportunity to focus again. Its one of the reasons Im watching you! I found you one day recently and your style hits me with so many nostalgic feels of when me and my bff would draw and RP our Invader Zim FCs in a very similar style back in school. Yours of course is much more refined and very much your own now. Im hoping to get there with some much needed and neglected practice.

Yeah, I used to have that, too. But half of them got stolen by shitty old roommates.
I hate all those SJWs (for all their attempting to "fix" social "issues", they actually just further plummet my dwindling faith in society XD). I once worked with one, who accused me of "slut shaming" a cat. A fucking feral cat. I called it a whore.
I think for me, it was working through being tempted to draw everything the way I liked, rather than considering whether that actually made sense.
I had to look though autopsy photos to find anything that wasn't just straight angle diagrams.
It's funny, you're not the first person to comment on finding something nostalgic about my style, but I honestly, can't for the life of me, think of what really was my influence. I never drew fanart of anything. At best guess, I remember back when I was still really trying to find a style, I would see pretty much anything I liked and miserably fail at trying the style, because I'm actually really bad at copying styles; but maybe all that subconsciously still came through and blended together
In any case, getting out of a rut is always hard, but such a relief when you finally do break it. Good luck on getting back into your own art. ^^

Aww bummer man Im sorry. Sometimes people are ass holes.
Wow thats pretty bad! I mean really most cats, feral or domestic are. They're even biologically designed to be able to carry the babies of different males in the same litter so you aren't technicly wrong, just anthropromorphesizing a species with no human social structure. Maybe its because you didn't use the PC term of " professional sexual opportunist" XD
They drive me nuts and make me feel like shit for being a human sometimes. Even just today I saw an article with a mom questioning whether her (white) daughter should be allowed to go as Moana for halloween because of it possibly being seen as culturally offensive. Like my god there are kids starving and thats what people are worried about??? XD
Yeah its hard not to want to ignore what might make something a better story or design because of it clashing with you're personal view of a character. Guess it all comes down to whether you want it to focus more on a good story or a just a bad ass character in a lot of ways.
And the autopsy photo thing is an awesome idea, I didnt think of that! It can be hard to look through things like that sometimes for a lot of people so cheers to you for being able to handle sifting through that for good refs. Thats real dedication!
Im not sure what it is thats nostalgic for me either. Like I said theres definitely a lot of Johnen Vasquez influence in the basic style of your characters but it also has a bit of a Tim Burton kind of feel in the way you do lighting and atmosphere? I guess? I can't quite put my finger on it. I've followed other artists with similar styles and I guess id call it the western equivalent to the basic anime style. Its cartoony but not as out of proportion in the way that something like Ed Edd N' Eddy. Its a good style.
I also love the way you incorporate chicken scratch sketching into your shading. It makes me feel the raggedness and brutality of your OCs world in a really well done way.
I think Im at the crappily copying styles point right now. And thank you so much I appreciate the encouragement. I don't think Ill ever be posting online as its more a hobby and Im over protective of my art but I really do appreciate it as well as this conversation. Best of luck to you with the job situation too! I saw your journal and I know what its like to be like "well im stressed so #uck coffee I need a shot of liquor!" Id take it as a "the universe is giving you an opportunity" type thing and go for whatever you feel you can handle. I hope it works out good for you! And Im sorry for the looong replies, its a bad habit and you made the mistake of being interesting to me. Shame on you XD

The cat in question popped out over 20 kittens in one year, damn thing was a super whore. Seriously though, it's like, yes, I'm aware that the cat is not literally a prostitute; but cats also have no concept of sex for pleasure, societal morals, or shame, and thus is impossible to "slut shame". Besides, seeing as I have two of that cat's kittens (well, they're not kittens anymore, but whatever.), I get to say whatever I want about her XP.
That's just stupid, the kid wants to dress as a character from an animated movie, probably because she likes the character, why is the character's race the thing anyone has to focus on. I'd be willing to bet the kid probably didn't even notice a racial difference.
I sort of love pathology, weird medical/anatomical shit, taxidermy... pretty much all things morbidly gross and involving dead bodies. XP I've looked at and read so much stuff about it, that I'm fairly desensitized to most of it at this point.
I can attest to the Tim Burton influence a lot more than I can for the Vasquez influence, honestly. I like Johnen Vasquez, and I don't doubt that I was influenced by his work, but I was familiar with Tim Burton a good ten years before I ever saw anything by Vasquez. I was obsessed with Tim Burton since I was a really young kid, when Nightmare Before Christmas first came out. With my older styles of art, the influence was obvious, gothic trippy shit, tons of spirals, bats, etc., I didn't think it carried over to my comic style so much, but I still do get the occasional comment pointing it out, so I guess it's just subconsciously ingrained or something.
I really wish there was a consistently used name for "not-so-toony western cartoons", I've generally just called it "comic style" but even that is really vague.
Well, even if it's just for fun, there's nothing wrong with pursuing an interest.
lol, or more like a pint of stout for me
Eh, slow replies don't bug me, I'm sometimes slow at getting back to people, too.

Thats pretty bad. Thats like 4 or 5 litters at least! They do say prostitution is the oldest profession for a reason, seeing how half the animal kingdom utilizes it. And awesome you adopted them its the best thing to do, and yeah I think that gives you fair say XD
I know I didn't as a kid. Adults just freak out too much sometimes. And the world focuses too much on that.
Nice, and same. I enjoy studying the anatomy of things and animal research. I used to be pretty squeamish with medical stuff and sometimes still do with human related stuff but dead things aren't nearly as bad for me as surgeries. I have more issues with cutting something open alive than I do dead. I screw around with using found bones in things like jewelry when I come across them. Its hard to just find them by chance though and I don't have any property to take something dead to decompose like some bone work people do. So its rare that I find anything dead that isn't too fresh and gets carried off by something. Its still fun when you're walking around find a little skull ore some leg and wing bones though.
I think that must be it then because looking at it more I see a lot of his influence. I think I immediately thought of Vasquez first is because of the way you draw the eyes. I love a lot of Burton movies too. Mostly the stop motion ones.
Yeah I tend to refer to that too and it seems to work pretty well to give the jist of it. I guess this is like cartoon comic style where as D.C. and Marvel comics would be realistic comic style.
Yep. Just gotta find time between work and sleep to have fun. Its so easy to fall into this bad pattern of just living to work and do nothing from stress.
Hah cheers 🍺
I getcha. Life gets busy and suddenly 8 days are gone. I just feel bad for writting a book of paragraph spam XD

As far as finding anything disturbing, I'm one of those people who is much more sensitive towards animals. As far as getting grossed out, it's actually normal bodily stuff that gets to me most. I think it's the fact that I can't entirely get it into my head to think of any bodily shit as normal, so it bothers me more when it's something I'm supposed accept as such. Dead or alive, a open body, isn't normal. But just a normal sick person or bodily waste/fluids (other than blood), I find completely repulsive.
I've found that train tracks are great place to find bones, they're less likely to have been dragged off by scavengers. Really, the best way to clean something down to the bone is to get flesh eating beetles... But I think you'd get in a lot of trouble if you tried to keep them in an apartment and your landlord found out. XD
Ugh, that lack of time that isn't spent at work, sleep or stressing out about shit is non-existent to me...

Yeah I can say I have an animal soft spot too. I wanted to be a vet when I was little until I watched an Animal Planet documentary where they preformed surgery on a dog and I realized the idea of cutting open a living thing bothered me. I can watch other people do surgeries on them and people in videos now but I don't think vet is the job for me. If its something dead I don't mind at all if its decently decomposed and mostly bone but I don't know how I feel about doing the freshy killed clean up cuz it often involves digging out a lot of tissue and organs. I guess its a distancing reaction for me.
Ill remember that railroad tip! I hadn't thought of that at all.
I can understand that. I work retail and public bathrooms can be a nightmare! Buddy of mine is a janitor there and we have fun talks! Humans can be disturbing. And spit can be pretty damn gross so, yeah humans are pretty nasty even without blood and guts XD
I have read up on those when looking for tips and they can be difficult. One of the most efficient ways to clean but I think you have to have special permission or a type of cage to house them because they're considered an invasive species. I'll have to double check. But yeah theyd be bad in an appartment and my roomies are about to have a baby so I wouldn't want to bring in anything dead right now anyways that isn't already clean bone. I usually just stick some mostly clean bones in a hydrogen peroxide mix and let that steralize them.
Its a killer. I hate dreaming about work and the long hours then waking up to go commit to it. But there could always be worse jobs is what I try to remember on the harder days. Better to have a shit job and internet than what a lot of people deal with. It can still really suck though. I guess everyone has those issues in some way.

I was interested in being a vet when I was younger, too. Had to do a career shadowing thing back in 8th or 9th grade, I shadowed a vet. Nothing really made me squeamish, but I started to rethink it since it's a lot of seeing animals in pain. Granted, you're trying to help them, but there's cases where you can't do anything; and that would just depress me way too much. Also, what really changed my mind about it, is the fact that you're not just working with animals, with people in emotionally stressful states, too. Doesn't matter how sympathetic I am to someone's situation, I have just about zero ability to express that and work with them through it. It's one of the reasons I also decided against mortuary. :/
A guy once shot up in the bathroom of my last job. Got fucking blood and heroin everywhere. Never trust public restrooms.
As far as I know, there aren't really any legal issues with them here, but I'm sure that varies from place to place. But they do need really controlled environments and care.
If I had a better place to be able to do more clean up on things that aren't well rotten or could keep beetles I would, but I'm pretty lazy and just leave most of it to nature, if a scavenger gets it, oh well. :/
Dreams about work are a terrible terrible thing.
Mainly what I'm struggling with is that working on drawing and comics is the equivalent to having another job, in terms of the time and mental energy it takes to crank things out, except that it doesn't pay anything, yet it's the one I would rather prioritize but simply can't afford to.

Ailions-Ephesians In reply to OMGitsSomething [2017-11-17 05:48:49 +0000 UTC]
That would be hard to deal with definitely. It can be hard to comfort with people in those situations on top of your own feelings about the patient yourself, and not knowing them makes it worse. I wouldn't be able to deal with the abuse situations either. I wanted to be an animal cop at one point but I'd be in jail for trying to beat someone XD
I think we had a girl doing crack on our family restroom once. I know we had a guy OD on heroin in the parking lot. And one of out elderly employees was jumped beaten and had his car stolen. They caught the guy and he got 25 years but it put our whole store in a rage just the same. Not a cool thing to do. Watch parking lots at night...
It may just be here. I live in Colorado and there are strict laws on exotic animals. Like its illegal to won any foxes, wild rabbits or basicly anthing that isn't easily findable in a pet store without special licencing.
Its easier to just chance it and let nature take its course I guess. You find what wants to come to you.
I can really relate to drawing feeling more like a chore or job right now. With it being near the big holidays and longer hours then you get home and have dishes and laundry and cleaning and like 4 hours to do it in and whatever else you can. Then you don't know what to draw X'D
Its definitely hard to make it as an artist too it seems. I think thats why patrons are getting more popular.

Same here. I hate animal abusers more than anything.
Yeah, that's horrible, regardless of the time he got for it.
There was also the guy who came in with a drink in a to-go cup and wanted me to add some ice to it, which was perfectly fine until he just casually blurts out "Yeah, it's 'lean'" because he thought "honestly is the best policy" ...uh, yeah, not when you're walking around with an illegal drug-concoction drink XD
I'm in Texas. Texas does not give a shit. It has to be something really big, like a tiger or bear, to require a license. Even wolves are perfectly legal and not considered exotic.
Even Patreon is hard to make anything worthwhile from unless you have a lot of fans. I have one but it's not earning me anything that can help cut back on my work hours :/

Oh god. Its one thing to do it its another to strait up say oh yeah I got drugs in here but like don't tell. Pretty funny. XD
I haven't seen anyone who I knew for certain was on drugs at my work I don't think. But I've delt with people I know being hooked on them and dealing with the comedowns and recovery. Nasty stuff.
Thats pretty cool. I always wanted a wolf after getting to interact with ones from a sanctuary as a kiddo. The staff would bring them into a holistic spiritual store here and youd be able to sit in the back room with them playing drums and petting them. Sadly because of an incident at a circus where a tiger mauled its trainer the visiting program for the wolves was shut down. Cuz ya know sanctuary wolves and circus tigers are totally the same thing right?
I dislike our restrictions here but I'm also finding them more and more necessary with how stupid people are sometimes. We have rich people moving way up into the mountains then bitching when theres a bear "in their back yard" and tourists who think wild Buffalo are basicly the same as domestic cows and have been killed for walking up to them trying to take a selfie. We also get a lot of issues with people camping unprepared and starting fires because they don't seem to understand that you can't just walk away from a camp fire and let it burn out on its own.
Yeah I've never had one or anything. Its a new concept to me but it seems about the same as a tips jar youd find next to a street preformer. Its a good idea to at least help people get some financial support without having to do commissions. I've seen a lot of artists with this same problem though. Self funding a project on top of life stuff can be a lot more difficult than people think. Only thing I can think of that would help is maybe implementing the same thing youtube does where you can have an add on the video that you make a small profit off of. Itd be nice to have more sites that could help fund someones project like that but business is tricky and if an advertiser finds your work controversial they won't their adds associated with you. Youtube is having this problem with users like Rob Dike who hostes a youtube show called Seriously Strange about murder and paranormal events. Add companies are afraid of having their adds on controversial or dark topics supposedly because ISIS uploaded an execution video that managed to get an add attached before it was taken down. Hes had to practically shut down the show because of it costing more for him to upload an episode than hes making in revenue. :/

I knew someone a while ago who got a wolf pup, apparently they're a pain in the ass to train because you have to make it think of your household as a ridged pack system.
It would be cool thought to have a wolf.
That really sucks about the wolf sanctuary program.
Tourists are fucking idiots. I don't understand what it is about traveling to a place they're not from that makes their brains fallout their asses. Why do you need a selfie with a buffalo? Just take a picture of the buffalo from a distance, cameras have zoom functions. >.>
The idea of patreon is really cool, if only it worked out better for people who are trying to get started, not just those who are already established.
I don't watch youtube much, but I've been hearing about the demonetizing/censorship issue. Rob Dyke is actually one of the few youtube show hosts I am familiar with, I noticed he didn't seem to make those videos as much, I guess that's why. :/

I've heard of that too. It makes sense since they're mindset is often more of a strict pack order than dogs. I remember reading a story about a family who had one and after theyd eat their dinner and feed it they would each spit on its meat before serving it to the wolf because smelling their sent on the meat made it understand that they were the more dominant menbers of the pack.
Yeah it was bull shit. I still have a small vile of wolf hair from one of them that they sold there and am grateful for the experience. None of them had ever done anything more than get a little too playful and jump on me once. There was one shewolf however who seemed to hate men. She was a rescue so we think she may have had a male owner who abused her as she showed signs of it with flinching at quick movements. I can remember a man with a beard walking in the room and she immediately got in front of my mom and I and stood on top of our feet growling at him. I know that with dogs standing or sitting on you is their way of saying "this is mine" so I believe thats what she was doing as we went there about once a week so she knew us. I felt bad for him cuz he just wanted to see them too, poor guy.
They really are. Some of our locals aren't so bright sometimes either though. I like your wording of it, its so true! Whats really funny is the ones who move up here then bitch about the cold winter months like its some new phenomenon. Were called the state of four seasons for a reason people.... XD
Yeah they seem like a good start to something that can grow. But popularity plays too much of a part too.
Im mostly on for music, some lets plays and channels like Robs. Its really a tragedy as it is a great show he has and its not just him who suffers for it but the people working for him as well. He has a researcher and an artist and a few others that he now can't pay what they're worth because of this crap. His more recent videos have addressed the youtube issue and asked for support on his patreon so I know hes getting a little desperate.
I want to try and get one of his shirts someday to give at least a little support. Hopefully it all blows over like that new bill or whatever it is that would make Net Neutrality nonexistent I just found out about.

That's like all the people who move here and complain about the heat, even when it isn't even that hot yet (by comparison of how hot it will get in summer, 80 degrees is nothing when we typically have 3 straight months of 100+). Or all the people flocking here from California, who will not shut the hell up about California and complaining about how it needs to be more like California here... Then stop moving here, in droves, from California?! WTF?! >.>
Same here. Though I hadn't been on in a while, actually checked out his channel again, since you brought it up. From what he's saying, youtube is trying to push him and other off. That's ridiculous. How is his content that controversial? Or negatively affecting youtube? Obviously people watch it, so it's bringing them traffic. It's not like he's condoning murder, or even joking about it in those segments. Shows like 20/20 and Dateline were covering those sorts of stories for years.

Oh my god! You have been infected too!! I hear that shit all the time here! What is with that? Besides job relocation why would you bother to move somewhere thats different than what you enjoy or want? And why the hell would you not research the climate of the place you're moving to!?
80 isn't too bad yeah. Like here its considered pretty warm but all the people from Cali love it. We get 90 to 100 degree days around June through about beginning of September. but its on and off. Then the rest of the year it goes from 70 one dat to 40 the next, then it'll snow and be melted by 5pm that day. Climate is all weird here so every day is inconsistent.
I don't understand it either, and find it to be total bull shit. I have noticed a lack of paranormal related videos recently especially which makes me wonder if it has something to do with advertisers not wanting to offend the religious?? I donno. No matter what I look at nowadays in regards to the darker side of life theres someone complaining about it existing. Its gone from annoying to basicly a witch hunt on anything that isn't portraying the world as a safe little place of gum drops and sunshine.

Austin, Denver, Seattle, Portland... the biggest hipster/yuppie/Californian migration points, where they jack up the cost of living and ruin everything. XP
This past week where it went from 80 degrees, to snow two days later, back to 70 degrees. Very short temperature drops or flooding is about all we get for signs of the season changing. XD
Youtube does seem to draw out all the pushy religious assholes, which I just do not get. Some of ads that do come up lately do seem to be very right-wing, like the anti-trans one or one defending fascism...
I swear everything is under a witch-hunt by one side or the other and it's ridiculous. DX

Yeah I feel like thats part of it, but they were beginning to flock and circle even before that because retailers were all like "hey what a pretty place lets build a shit ton of big cheep houses and jack the price because you can see Red Rocks Amphitheater!"
The weed flockers bug me because I support it and voted yes on it b it was supposed to be a good thing. For one I smoke it, nice to take a hit before bed or if I'm too stressed to eat. Better for me than a shot too as alcoholism runs in both sides of my family, and continues to cause problems time to time. I get it for my parents because they're getting older and its better and cheeper than some pricey pain medication we can't afford. Helps them sleep and keeps them both from drinking so much. They're both the classic rock hippie types though so they were pretty open to it already. XD
The other good things is it has raked in a lot of money that we've been needing for the cities and especially the schools. The public school system here is becoming shittier with every year.. It really breaks my heart that it has backfired in the housing market. Renters forcing people out of their homes because they've become greedy and idiots flocking for the newest easy "trend" instead of fighting to just get it legalized in their own state and using the profits for something good.
We go all over. 70 degree day in winter will likely get down to a 20 or below degree night but in summer its hot all the time. Then it'll rain at 3pm and be muggy all damn evening XD
Whow anti-trans add on youtube?? Haven't come across that one, I wonder if its been pulled yet. I try not to pay attention to the adds much though either. Most of mine wind up being just makeup or hair or some add for wifi speakers. Every once in a while you get that really off one though so I believe you.
Its insanity and I feel like its bleeding out too much into the real world... A lot of it is that whole internet anonymity coming into play. Easier to talk to people behind a screen even with your real name attached nowadays. The way everything is played up is causing the nation to fracture into tiny closed minded chunks that would rather just argue than shut the hell up and listen to eachother or at least try to debate and understand the others view.

Yeah, marketers have been trying to push a hip/trendy images on us here, and dubbing the south side of every street SO+the first two letters of the street's name (SOCO= S Congress, SOFI= S1st, etc.) It's gag-inducing and no one who lives here talks that way, but the Californian yuppies eat that shit up. Then you've got crap like Buzzfeed and other list sites hyping it up here, even claiming that beer is only $3 for a six pack... which isn't even true.
I don't get the whole moving for weed. I think it's dumb that it's illegal, but it also shouldn't be the most important thing in your life, that you'd uproot everything and move a 1000 miles for it.
That's the irony, here. There's been no improvements to the city. We used to have a really good local economy here, but all the big national corporations are actually taking money away from here and adding to the inflation.
I only saw it once, and only listened to it because of how strange it sounded and how long it went on. I'm not one to throw "phobia" accusations around, but this thing was clearly right-wing aimed and seeping with fear-mongering, which I found even stranger considering it came on while was listening to music, none of which is anything you'd associate with a conservative audience.
That's what bothers me the most, having opposing views is fine, I'd even argue that it's needed to keep a balance. But now everyone is being pushed to choose sides, and those sides are on two extremes without middle ground, and both sides have lost their goddamn minds.

Now thats weird. I have enough problems with remembering streets without more acronyms. And I don't think I've ever even heard of beer that cheep. Maybe in the 1930s or if its crap and they're trying to get rid of it! XD
I honestly don't think a lot of them have actually uprooted their whole lives just for the weed, we've had advertising for lots of good jobs and blah-blah, but it is another reason to move here and that makes it a huge marketing target, especially with people realizing it isn't a hard core drug like in the reefer madness days. The ones who did that have all had to move to the shit parts of the city or go back home because they didn't know you can't pay bills with a $9 job here.
I've noticed signs of that here too. Actually first year it was legalized we were all questioning what happened to the money it was supposed to bring into schools because instead it was held for a bit then an appointed committee divided it up and decided what would be done and how much would go where. Even with the funding our school system is crap because of all the tax cuts.
My biggest issue with it all this developing is placement of houses and appartments. Im all for progress, progress is good. But putting a huge 100+ person complex on a 2 lane main road next to an already busy intersection with busy buisnesses is a really bad Idea and they keep doing that. Theyre fitting in appartments wherever they think they can without thinking of the traffic and its caused a lot of problems on roads that were already bad about accidents and back ups durring the rush hour.
Yeah I noticed that.... Its like the whole "war on Christmas" thing that doesn't exist. I have never EVER wished someone Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays and had them get offended about it or had them say its not appropriate. Ive never met anyone who has either, so the fact it still occasionally pops in recent politics just makes me go "Really? This is what were focusing on??"
Its true! There is no middle ground anymore! You're either a democrat or a republican and god forbid you question or have a slightly different view of either side of the far left or far right or you're not a REAL one! Its ridiculous and I've noticed it seeping into other areas too in regards to religion and sexuality... Like suddenly its all Christians are conservative and all the LGBT is democratic. Hopefully America wakes up and realizes that they are supposed to be working together as a system of checks and balances not fighting over whos turn it is to have the game controler. Like honestly its such 4th grade bs at this point which is terrifying because this isn't a video game, its running an entire nation. Its millions of lives in the grasp of a net that's unraveling and all people want to do is keep cutting the strands as if they're less valid....

I hear a lot of people saying they're going to move there for the weed. Though it does seem to be a lot more "talk" than anything, considering I don't think I've known anyone who's actually managed to go through with it.
Yes, the housing development is the most obnoxious part. I've known so many people who have been kicked out of their homes, places I used to love getting wrecked down, busy roads being clogged by construction, all just to build new fancy condos and luxury apartments.
The "war on Christmas" thing is fucking stupid. My mom completely believes it and gets offended by "happy holidays" and chirstmas decorations being Santa stuff rather than Jesus stuff. I just don't celebrate anything and don't wish anybody anything more than a "You, too" response to whatever they say. XP
Honestly, as paranoid as it maybe, I started to believe a while ago, that it's all on purpose. Having everyone be so divided isn't good for anyone except those at the top actually holding power. Yet, we're more divided than ever, and it's only getting worse.

Any one I met who tried has had to give up pretty fast when things got tough. Yeah they just demolished my great grandmas house for that same kind of crap. My family is seriously not happy about it but there wasn't much we could do as it wasn't ours anymore. Anywhere they can put in a tiny over priced condo theyre doing it.
It really is! Like honestly, nobody is dragging Christians from their homes for saying merry christmas! XD
Yeah I can say about the same. I just want people to have a good whatever holiday it is. Thats what its about not oh I hope you're this religion. If anything I celebrate Halloween more. I still like Christmas. My moms the same way. Loves the holiday but she pretty much hates Christianity, bad experiences with it growing up. After she found out Christmas was originally a pagan holiday and what all came from it she loves it even more because she considers herself an aithiest wiccan and her christmas tree is her pride and joy. She has no problem telling someone "merry christmas" though.
Same... Hate to say it but its just starting to get obvious. Especially with the black man vs white cop issues. They never just say "a man was shot while fleeing a robbery" its usually worded as "a black man was gunned down by police last night durring an investigation" even if it was the robber who shot first they conveniently leave that part out and if its a white guy it isn't even on the news half the time or gets less screen time. Im 100% against racial voilence of all kind I've seen some of the police brutality videos where they totally were in the wrong and went too far. But it isn't like that every time, skin color doesn't make you a better or worse person your actions do. So when I see a story where the black guy fired 3 shots and the cop shot back and people are saying the cop should have died "cuz racism" its drives me crazy especially if its a black cop.
Its the same with politics. You're stupid and a traitor no matter what side you pick in the far left or rights eye and they focus more on that than the fact we are all one nation with many opinions. Its better to keep those rating coming in than do something to help us all unite to them. How can we think we still need them if we aren't afraid of the other side taking over. And now were in another damn government shut down so they can sit there and bitch back and forth while likely getting paid while those with government jobs lose this months rent :/

That sucks about your great grandma's house. Old buildings have so much historical value, even if it is just a small personal history.
Halloween's the only holiday I celebrate also. It's the fun one XD
Oh yeah, because it's not even about police brutality, they've taken a real issue and high-jacked it. It's just devolved into "everyone not-white" vs "everyone white"; despite not every minority having the same issues, and some just getting out-right ignored because they don't have enough "oppression points". Same goes for the ever-growing LGBT alphabet, everyone within there has different types of issues, but it's turning into meaning "everyone who is anything but 100% straight" vs "everyone straight"; for fuck sake, they've added another "A" for "allies" because you apparently can't be part of the straight majority and be supportive of others. These umbrella groupings are terrible, it's not being used to support each other for what they are, but to define them by what they are not. It creates false enemies, it antagonizes, and actually takes focus away from issues being taken seriously; because it removes the individual, the humanizing factor, it makes issues less relatable to those who's minds they're wanting to change.

You're right Halloween is the most fun. I wish it didn't get overshadowed as much.
Thats exactly how I feel about it. We'd have whatever version of equality everyone was originally fighting for if people would just quit looking at appearances so much and just look at the fact we are all human and we all go through some kind of shit in our lives. Suffering isn't a contest and it shouldn't be focused on in a way that lessens its true meaning. It blows my mind when I see that double standard that some say started out as a "joke" then developed into something much more serious.
I don't really understand what's going on with the LGBT anymore. None of my LGBT friends seem to understand it either. We are at a point where we are discovering and coming to understand more about concepts we were more rigid on before and theres nothing wrong with that, but at the same time they are categorizing things way too much to not be unrealistic and confusing. Every time I glance at the stamp section of DA I find a new gender or sexuality that I've never heard of and when I read the descriptions or look them up they just seem so pointless and way too narrow.
The Allies thing pisses me off too. I've always been on the LGBTs side before so why do I now have to say "I'm heterosexual but I support the LGBT tooooo"? I get that maybe its trying to be more inclusive to straits but then why not just call it the LGBTH alliance since we're all supposed to be "equal". XD
I've always heard that if you say something enough times you'll eventually start to believe it. Theres a bit of truth in that. Less than 100 years ago we were repeatedly told white people were greater than black people, eventually we were repeatedly told we were equals, now we're (mostly) on that level because of that and have made leaps and bounds to get past that. Same goes for the LGBT issues it just happened a bit later. The power that this type of public influence has is amazing and we can achieve great things with it but if you don't really think about the little details or what its being used for it can become dangerous too. Some people are trying to make this influence move too fast while others are either still trying to catch up or pushing it the opposite direction harder than before. Then we have the issues of people fueling these issues for the wrong reasons like the fact they get attention for being "different", views on the news, money, or some idea of false superiority from it. Its really terrifying that we are a species with so much potential that still has a strangely simple hive mindset on a larger scale. As a species we are a collective group that makes up the mentality of a large cosmic toddler XD

Yup. Equality requires people to stop pushing for division.
It's the insane level of over-sensitivity and constant contradicting of shit that drives me crazy with the LGBT community, and actually keeps me from associating myself with it despite technically falling within it. They say they want to get rid of stereotypes/gender roles/labels, but then make new labels for every littlest thing, that no one ever will be able to keep up with and use practically... and then take all those ridiculous labels and put them under an ever-growing umbrella label? Just what??
pride-flags.deviantart.com hurts my brain.
Exactly. Does it suck to not be 100% accepted? Sure. But this... whatever the fuck it even is, is not going to do anything but hurt the cause. You can't complain about not being accepted as normal when you fabricate ways to make yourself as different as possible, are as loud as possible about it, and don't even try to give people a chance or reason to understand it. That's not how you change minds, that's how you make people get even more defensive and prove them right in their eyes.
...."large cosmic toddler" That... is terrifying. And accurate. It makes me feel even more okay with the idea of the world's eventual end, and I was already pretty okay with that idea. o.o

Yeah I think at this point thats driving everyone crazy. I don't blame you for not wanting to identify as part of that group, none of my friends do either. Most of the "sexualities" I've seen outside of the traditional gay, straight, bi, seem to be preferences and it makes no damn sense anymore. And yes they are impractical, especially for people who don't speak english as their first language (something these people conveniently forget when flipping out at someone for asking why these words are necessary). Its hard enough learning another language on its own but when you add in a bunch of subgenders it makes it even harder. Like with languages like German and Spanish that have masculine, feminine, and neutral endings to certain words.
I feel ya, it hurts my brain too man...
Oh my god yes! It's like they're just looking for a fight when they do that! It's so ridiculous that people still think thats the way to handle someones difference of opinion. The least you can do is accept that no matter what you do someone somewhere somehow will be offended by it. Its a universal human law. XD
Its the best way I can explain our species really. We know how to build and talk and get mad when things don't go our way then as a collective throw a tantrum to get what we want. I wish I could say we have a brighter future as a species we ignore too much of whats important to really last much longer. We bread, eat, and waste out of control for the sake of being free to do so without thinking of the consequences and responsibility that come with the growing population. We don't think twice about it because we are too distracted with whatever shiny thing is put in front of us. We would rather continue to invest in new phones and cars every year than exploration and education because we've been taught that money makes the world go round and "oh I need that to be happy". I see people saying we've doomed this planet and our only chance of survival will be colonizing another but the thing people don't really seem to be looking at is do we deserve to? Will we have matured enough to look past our skin and ideologies by the time we manage space travel or will we just bring more war and division to another place and destroy it too? Im pretty okey with us going extinct with the way we've become a parasite species, but it saddens me that we had so much potential too. We are so smart but so damn stupid...
You should check out the music video of a song called Right in Two by the band TOOL. Idk if you know them. It explains why I see humanity that way perfectly. And its just an awesome song XD

Ironically, I'm sort of the opposite, I'm actually not a fan of that cute/pastel gore that's super popular right now (I'm assuming that's what candy gore is? I never knew the name for it).

It's more tasteful and artistic, I'll give it that. I think it's the unrealistic-ness of when it's just over the top that I find appealing. I have a weird sense of humor, to me there's just something so awkwardly hilarious about cheesy slasher-style gore, mix it with smut and it just makes it even cheesier and better. XD
