Alukard's return to service
Juno (Pedropoliss )
It had been 4 months since the death of Alukard’s master. 4 months since the murder of the noble human. Still, no suspect had been found, although now there was talk of feline murders as well. Alukard wasn't sure if the two were connected, but he did know that he had spent long enough in mourning.
Now that his human was gone, he had no home. He was now owned by the Bounty Hunter regime and the humans that managed it, although instead of the Hunter’s temple, he had been sleeping at a local inn. His master and the owner of the inn had been good friends, and Alukard had already become a common sight there when he took his mate there for a relaxing evening. Juno spent much of her time there as well, to comfort him. The inn owner didn't mind the two legendary Hunters taking up residence in one of his rooms; it provided him extra security as well as bragging rights that it was their chosen spot. Alukard had to wonder if the innkeeper would wind up being his new master.
No human could replace his fallen master, so he wouldn't worry about who he was placed with. Instead, he started towards the Hunters quarters. Juno was by his side, scowling at her recent demotion from Elite Hunter due to her not being around as much as they’d like.
As if there were a set amount of Elite hunters that could be had at one time. She shook her head bitterly, no doubt thinking about the life she’d spent in service to the Hunters- scars and tattoos, some scars they couldn't see- climbing her way to the top only to be disrespectfully told she was no longer good enough. Despite her vastly superior experience compared to some of the cubs being promoted these days, it wasn't enough for them, and they cared not for the morale of their Hunters.
Alukard’s own experience wasn't enough to impress the young Hunters in charge, and he had one of the longest capture records of any Hunter in history. Alukard figured they must feel threatened by the more senior Hunters. He supposed that could be a good thing; he knew empire cats were terrified of him, so it wasn't such a long shot to say that smaller, weaker cats in his own faction may also fear him.
With a grimace he shook himself, narrowing his eyes as he slunk towards the temple with his mate by his side. He could see some Hunters lounging around inside the temple, their forms outlined in the candlelight.
Perhaps some of them would be ready to go for a Hunt? Alukard knew he was. Fury burned in him, and the urge to tear into enemy pelts was insatiable. The Empires wouldn't know what hit them.
