the title for this piece is 10,000 Lakes. after the song by Kid Dakota, which inspired the mood.
that's kind of incorrect, though, because minnesota in february through, uh, april inspired both this piece and the song.
this is a collage. Magazines, Paint Chips, Tracing Paper, Markers, and THREAD. YES. that jacket is nothing but looped thread. i went around the bend making it but it was so worth it!

This is a genuinely very cool piece. I especially love just how each little different piece of this (the magazine clippings versus the thread jacket versus the face, etc) are noticeable but still works very well together !

I'm in love with this. The looped thread just conveys this warm, and at the same time constrained, feeling that might not have come across as nicely in paint.
