Description
Slowly, feeling came back to him.

Ezio could feel the soft mattress under his aching body, the thick blanket thrown over him. His hair clung onto his forehead because of sweat, just like his breeches were sticking to his legs. He could smell a perfume, that was pretty well-known to him by now, after smelling it almost every day for the last months. He heard scratching and ruffling from the adjacent room, telling him that the original owner of the bed he was currently lying in, was also in the house.

Then he wanted to open his eyes – but instead only screamed because of the surprising pain that wouldn't fade even after a few minutes.

Footsteps came closer, hastily and almost tripping when running around a corner towards the door of the room.

"Ezio, amico mio! Don't move too much yet!" the artist shouted at him, pushing him into the pillows again, ignoring the whimpers of the assassin. Ezio could hear worry, concern in his voice, letting it break off completely before being able to say anything else about the wounds of his dearest friend.

"W-what happened?" Ezio stammered after a few more minutes, the pain finally starting to fade, the burning in his eyes becoming less and less. It was a cruel feeling, not seeing anything but red and black through some tightly put on bandages.

Leonardo's slender fingers gently combed through the assassin's damp hair, trying to sooth him.

"It was… some of the guard's wanted to attack me… but you jumped in between, saving me… Mi dispiace, Ezio… I shouldn't have been that careless…"

"Leonardo…" Ezio just whispered, trying to sit up straight, fingers still clawed into the sheets to get rid of the feeling of disorientation, "Could you come a little closer, per favore?"

He could feel the mattress shifting under the weight of the other as he crawled closer towards Ezio. Much too slow for his liking, he could at least imagine where the artist was sitting right now. So the young assassin only had to reach out with both his hands, already running calloused fingers over smooth skin.

His hands continued wandering, slipping down onto the artist's shoulders, then back into his neck where Ezio's fingers intertwined. Without wanting to hurt his dearest friend, the assassin pulled him closer, head now resting on the other's shoulder.

"Seriously now, Leonardo…" he whispered, voice still a little shaking, sounding husky because of the scream and… other reasons, "Am I the one who's blinded for the moment, or are you?"

He could feel Leonardo's body tensing, shuddering as hot breath hit sensitive skin. Ezio grinned mischievously, chuckling low, sending yet another shudder down Leonardo's spine.

"I'd do almost everything for you… Just stay by my side… amore mio…"
