Description 02 – Birth

Beleth's almost awake, feeling a hand – a /large/, warm one – running through his hair. He can see the bright sunlight even through his lids, rousing him from his sleep, little by little. There's no way to fall asleep again, that much he knows.

After another few moments he finally opens his eyes.

First thing he sees is a pair of light blue eyes, a hue of violet in them. Silver-blonde hair slicked back from his forehead, spikes pointing to the sides and back.

Even though he's so different, Beleth recognizes Zaphkiel at once. They've been together for such a long time, Beleth doesn't need the other angel's looks. His presence would always stay the same, gentle and loving but at the same time also stern and unforgiving.

The feelings that Beleth always associates with teachers, parents and older brothers, even after all the centuries he has spent as an angel.

The smile gracing his lips is unusual, alien to look at – but Beleth likes it the moment it appears.

"Never heard of an angel sleeping for such a long time after their fall, you know... Didn't think you'd wake up again" Zaphkiel murmurs teasingly, keeping his voice low as if he knows how bad Beleth's head starts to hurt all of a sudden.

Then again – Beleth is sure Zaphkiel knows. He's gifted with great knowledge, after all. And him sitting on the edge of the bed Beleth is lying in can't mean anything other than him having fallen too, right?

He's gently sat up by Zaphkiel, same movements as if he's handling a sick child. A glass of cold water is pushed into his hand and Beleth drinks it in greedy gulps. It feels good, soothing his dry and sore throat.

"How long was I out?" he asks as soon as the empty glass is taken from his hands. His body is heavy and he has to lie back again because of the sudden dizziness that makes everything in front of him seem blurry. It's been a long time since he has last felt so weak.

"In the evening it would have been four whole days... Normally one wakes up after several hours... guess it was because of... well..." Zaphkiel suddenly stops in the middle of the sentence and Beleth knows he shouldn't say anything about Haniel's death because both of them are still suffering from it...

So he simply keeps silent, looking up at the elder, smiling sheepishly as his stomach grumbles loudly.

It takes him a few moments to notice that before he has been unable to feel hunger. Zaphkiel apparently sees the surprise in his eyes because as he stands up, he suddenly starts to talk, to explain.

"You're in a human's body now, brother... Means you need to eat and sleep like everyone else down here – like you did before becoming a guardian angel. You even got a body that looks and feels slightly like the one you had during your life, didn't you?"

He doesn't have to admit that Zaphkiel is right. He doesn't really remember much of the time before his death – but it still feels familiar, causing him to look down curiously. How did he even look back then?

He's about a foot smaller than Zaphkiel. It's quite obvious as he's wearing some of the other's cloths in which he almost vanishes because they are just too big and baggy on his slender body. His skin is a little more tanned than he remembers and the few scars his appearance in heaven had haven't been passed on to this one.

"You look a lot younger, Beleth... I'd guess you were about nineteen when you died?"

He only nods. He doesn't trust his voice any because he's just too shocked, too overwhelmed.

He's human again. No angel anymore. No creature having great responsibility and powers.

Beleth smiles brightly at Zaphkiel, who's entering the room just at the moment one thought gets especially clear in his mind.

"It's like I was born again, right?" he asks, feeling as if someone took great weight off his shoulders.

"Yes, we both were..."
