Character Descriptions
Rin

Rin is a starving artist and homeless vagrant who works her trade on street corners and public squares, drawing portraits and selling her artwork for change

A runaway orphan with a strong distrust of shelters and boarding houses due to abuse suffered while under the care of an orphanage, Rin refuses to accept charity housing or accommodations and is often on the run from social workers and concerned mental health care workers.

Despite her sordid history and traumas, rin herself is kind in nature, soft spoken and carries herself with a type of innocent naïve charm. Sweet and seemingly without a judgmental bone in her body, Rin is very much a diamond in the rough, peculiarly unaffected by her surroundings and background.

She has a form of color blindness(Tritanopia) that influences her art style(She primarily uses only blacks and reds in her paintings).
Besides the lack of color, the subject matter of her personal art is oftentimes dark and grotesque. Fascinated with death(And the life that comes with it) she often draws dead animals in various states of decay, and other controversial subject matter that she finds to be stimulating.
Her portrait work is another source of controversy, neither caricature nor flattery, Rin is naturally drawn to the features that make a person stand out in a way that she finds interesting, finding beauty in flaw, Rin's portraits are typically starkly realistic with a focus on blemishes and imperfections. Patrons with fragile egos sometimes mistake her art as a form of personal mockery and leave without tipping anything into her cap.
Rin's otherwise delicate and friendly personality makes her dark creations all the more shocking and unexpected.

Rin survives on the money she makes from her creative endeavors and the charity of local bakeries and restaurants, her oversized second hand thrift shop clothes keep her warm and the stale bread from the bakery keep her fed. On particularly scarce occasion she has resorted to eating less acceptable alternatives like wild birds and fish.

In the eyes of those who wish to institutionalize her, Rin's odd behaviour is the result of stunted mental development, trauma masking, mental illness and neurodivergence. But to her loved ones,(Few as they are) she is simply a lovable, creative, quirky and loyal friend.

Victor

Taking strange to another level that makes the likes of Rin seem normal, Victor ascends to levels of, creepy, unsettling and disturbing.
The type of man whose simple presence makes people cross the street and causes children to flee to their mothers in terror, Victor is an immediately distrusted stranger anywhere he appears.

Standing nearly a foot taller than the average man, with twisted features, crooked posture, unkempt hair, nails and stubble, and wearing the tattered suit of a funeral director, this ghoul of a man is a sight to behold. Though he is seldom seen in broad daylight, preferring to prowl in the dark of the night or the shadows of the city's alleyways.

Victor, like Rin, shares a past of institutionalization, though instead of an orphanage, he has his origin in an asylum. Recently free from Blackmoore Sanitarium, Victor keeps as low a profile as someone with his appearance can.
Ditching his asylum straits for a dirt covered mortician's two piece suit,(Where he "dug up" that dirt covered and tattered second hand suit is as much a mystery as why he is free from confinement to begin with.) he has set out on the town to see what wonders he can uncover in the sprawling cityscape.

Victor's mental state is a combination of Dissociative identity disorder, borderline personality disorder and schizophrenia, Victor Furthermore has three core split personalities that are defined by the following personality traits: 1. Obsessive, histrionic, and melodramatic. 2. Narcissistic, bipolar, and manic, and 3. Sadistic, sociopathic, and cruel.

Each one taking the reins at different occasion, though since his stay at Blackmoore Asylum he has developed several more "personalities"... Whom he refers to as his friends.
These "friends" find Victor's anarchic mind an ideal residence, furthering his already strained sanity into that of otherworldly psychosis.

During his travels in the city, Victor comes across the girl and becomes obsessed and infatuated with her artwork.
He entices her to paint something beautiful for him

Rin's accepting and open minded nature, alongside her interest in the dark, strange, and maligned causes her to readily accept Victor's proposal without hesitation, and instead of being overcome with fear, she is overcome with excitement.

This further fuels Victor's interest in the peculiar girl whose nature is at odds with the norm, he becomes her regular patron.
commissioning ever more specific and brutal artworks from her, paying her with large sums of cash he pulls from a seemingly endless supply of wallets and bags every time he comes around.(In typical Rin fashion she does not question the origins of such things.)
