alright, this is my entry for 's cloverfield redesign contest. I know I'm not gonna win, but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Alright, so this Clover is an abomination of nature, an amalgam of various creatures, basically the kaiju equivalent of a platypus. Clover is able to survive both on land and in water through various evolutionary means.

On its snout lie four nostrils, allowing for a greater intake of air, and can be sealed shut when underwater. Its respiratory system culminates in a set of lungs which are attached to the outside of the body, and protected by extended and protruding ribs. When submerged, Clover's lungs act similarly to a gigantic set of gills, absorbing the oxygen found in water and discarding all else.

Clover's eyelids are covered by a one-way transparent eyelid, allowing it to see out at all times (including when underwater), letting his eyes appear 'closed'. His tail serves the most basic purposes; providing balance on land, and a means of propulsion and direction while underwater. Also, due to Clover's eyes, which function poorly in lowlight, a series of blazing bulbs on its tail provide extra illumination when needed.

Perhaps its greatest mystery lay in the design of its hands. Clover possesses a pair each of two different types of 'hands': one, a paw with three fingers ending in claws and the other, a large pincer and two smaller suction-tipped tentacles. Both pairs of arms are unique in that they are attached to the base of the neck. The only speculation given to this design is that the larger pair of arms is used to catch food, such as sharks and infant whales, while the smaller pair is to hold the food nearer to the mouth.

The clover species possesses a slow, long-lasting life cycle, and much of this time is spent sleeping on the floor of the ocean. It is due to this part of its life cycle that the clover species gained its parasitic companions. At some point, the species slumbered in an area containing a species of ancient sea scorpion, members of a class that had gone extinct long before the dinosaurs. These opportunistic creatures quickly adapted to surviving off of the clover species, and now cover any given monster. Besides their flexible tail sections, they also possess a pair of rear 'fins', and as such are excellent swimmers. However, they still posses the legs they once used on land, as well as the poisonous tail, and after Clover's rampage can both chase down and attack the average person.
