Finally got the chance to sit down and sketch out Rattrap's duality sketch. I wanted to add the HUD from Season 3 to the background (the one with the cheese wedge) But couldn't find a screen cap of adequate quality. So Regardless I think this is my second favorite next to Dinobot's. I really liked sketching this. It was A LOT of fun.Enjoy.

Second and third season, there were some great moments where the animators experimented and had fun with it. Really good stuff.
On the other hand, I will never forgive them for putting Code of Hero and Transmutate back to back. So much emotional weight, concentrated in one place.

Yeah I agree those episodes should have been spaced out. Especially because the Maximals never had a chance to grieve properly, especially Rattrap.

And if I remember right, it goes right from those two episodes to the multi-part finale of season two, meaning there's really no time to grieve. And by the time things settle down, what, a third of the way into season three? It's like he's been forgotten.
And then Dinobot II gets made.
(I was always hoping there'd be a Dinobot III in Beast Machines.)

Yeah Dinobot not being resurrected in Beast Machines always made me sad. Felt like a lost opportunity.

Very much so. Although, I suppose, they had already done the resurrected-as-loyal, betrays-anyway-because-honor arc, and really, he wouldn't be Dinobot if he didn't do that. The only other way I could see that story going is if the Maximals found where Megatron was storing the sparks and stole one (or perhaps he was keeping that one somewhere separate, to torment it), and rezzed Dinobot as a loyal Maximal from the start. Not sure how that would work, and there were already enough people questioning Primal's judgment.
What do you think? Could they have found new narrative ground to tread with a Dinobot III?

good ol rattrap i remember one episode he was in a sub marine pod and there was cute little music

That was the episode where he had to retrieve Sentinal from the sunken section of the Axalon.
