Path to Immortality PlotlineChapter 3: The Grudge Arc Part 4-Weakness!!
Brief description: Saouri is recovering from her injuries from the previous events. She has a vision of what appears to be her child before she is drawn back into reality. She wakes to her surprise to find herself with sleeping next to someone. Three people are have been caring for her and treating her injuries and also seem to know her fairly well. However, though they do appear familiar, she cannot seem to remember them at all. She later on comes to realize that is was a group of bounty hunters she had once teamed up with and grown fairly close to. She however still cannot fully recollect what led her to leave the group. At the same time she does not trust them, aware of her wanted status, she suspects they could turn on her at any instant. The group tries to help a paranoid Saouri remember them and subsequently discover another lost piece of the puzzle. As she slowly starts coming to terms with her past and what to come.
It’s a hazy late summer afternoon, there is laughter everywhere and sounds of children playing. A little girl is on the beach with her parents. Unlike the others who are running around on the beach. She is trying to plant a strange flower into the sand but it does not stand. She has been at it for quite a long time and barely notices the passing of time. Everything around her seems to move quickly but she patiently keeps at it. The girl hears familiar voices that are of her parents. She stands up to begin waving at them while holding the flower. The little girl does not realize that the flower in her hands has some sharp thorns on its stem. As she carelessly waves to her parents she feels a sharp piercing. Her hand drops the flower in reaction to the sudden pain in her palm. A drop of blood falls into the sand. She is distracted by this as she looks at her pierced palm in near tears for a moment. However, when she looks up to call to her mom, she finds she is all alone…
The girl quietly looks around and as she is about to back away and she suddenly walks into something. For a moment she is frozen and then as she turns around to see what is behind her. Her vision is blinded by a ridiculously bright glare from the setting sun. She barely see a silhouette of the figure she had walked into.
***Saouri wakes up***
She can barely lift her right arm without a sharp pain going through her whole right hand. Saouri can see her forearms wrapped in clean bandages. Something cool and heavy is placed on her head. As she raises her left hand and moves around her fingers in the air she can feel a tinge of pain in the palm of her hand. She turns her hand to see a small red stain through the bandage. Saouri she stretches holds out her hand into the air and mumbles… mother… as she grabs the air.
The door opens and as two boys walk in, Saouri recognizes the voices from before. She even remembers and immediately identifies one of the two voices as he had spoken to her before. She feels surprisingly calm, the sudden opening of the door does not seem to surprise her at all. Yet at the same time she is slightly surprised by the sudden burst of life into the room. She quietly observes her Gail (forgets that her left hand is still in the air.) He appears to be the shorter and less built of the two guys. Has curly dark hair and dark brown eyes, as she observes him talking to his companion she cannot seem to stop glaring at his facial features, to the device in his hands. Saouri does not know what it is that ever so slightly fascinates him over the other guy but nonetheless continues glaring.
Gail: “…ever since her signal was lost no one has tried to-”
The other boy who does not seem at all to be paying attention to anything that Gail is saying, immediately notices her and loudly gasps interrupting Gail completely. Saouri somehow is not surprised at all by the volume of the guy’s exclaim, which begins to make her wonder… Had she ever met these people before?
Voice#3: “WAAAAHHHH-!!“
Gail still has not noticed what is right in front of him, he faces his companion and in a voice competing with that of his companion in frustration asks.
Gail: “What is it now!?”
Voice#3: “S-she’s awake… and they were sleeping together!!” (Childishly pointing at Saouri.)
Gail: (Looks around the room at Saouri and another girl sleeping beside her with an unimpressed face and looks back at his companion) “You were not listening to me were y-” (He breaks off for a moment suddenly surprised and dumbfounded… he then turns to glare at Saouri and stammers…) S-Saouri… YOU ARE AWAKE!? I’m so glad, he finally exclaims.”
Saouri, sits up… confused and puzzled at how she could have possibly known such loud people.
Saouri: “G-Gail… (At this instant, Gail’s facial expression appears to be flattered by the mere mention of his name) “Who are you?!” (Saouri continues with a plain expression on her face)
The other man, looks at Gail with a bemused expression on his face and barely manages to hold back his laughter…
Gail: “Eh…?!” (His face suddenly looks even more dumbfounded than before. His expression freezes while one of his brows twitches a couple of times.)
Then a warm hand pulls Saouri back downwards forcing her to lie on her back.
She hears a familiar voice from nearby sleepily mis-addressing her,
Voice#3: “Cheng, what is with all that noise, come back to bed its cold.”
Gail’s companion gasps in exasperation!! Saouri is suddenly flustered by the unexpected gesture as the girl brings her face closer to Saouri. Her eyes are half open, then she suddenly the girl notices her error. The other guy who Saouri now assumes must be Cheng chokes on what he wanted to say.
Cheng: “M-Maya”
Maya: (gasps) “T-This isn’t what it looks like… I was really sleepy and decided to take a nap but was a bit cold so I figured I could… W-we are both girls so I figured there’d be no problem if- Uh, no, that doesn’t really explain this does it?” She stops short of her explanation as she notices how it does not really help with her situation and is dumbfounded.
A still dumbfounded Gail finally exclaims, “Well, this is really awkward!”
