Barry is an lms stanier 8f goods engine, he was built at Crewe around mid to late 1935 he was the tenth member of the class he was numbered #8010
around 1948 or 49 at this point he was operating under british railways Barry was renumbered to #48010 and he was relocating to the Sundale and Port Haven Light Railway line where he met lms Fowler 4f #4207 pogo.
and Barry teased pogo saying he was small and old, but pogo pays no attention to him. little did Barry know that bad luck would come there way…
pogo took a freight train up the line, unaware that it was a gunpowder train. On his way up the line, and working hard on the gradient, hot ash flew from his chimney into one of the trailing vans, which ignited and exploded whilst he crossed a bridge, causing him to plummet into a ravine to his death, Barry was on the other side of the bridge he had saw everything he quickly went back alerting about the accident, when they retrieved Pogo who was badly mangled he was in a half dead the last word Barry said to pogo before the 4f passed out is "I'm sorry, you don't deserve this is my fault I was jinxed" but after saying that Barry heard a voice in his head that said "I will be back to get you"
five years afterward roughly 1963 Barry left the Sundale and Port Haven Light Railway it seams he had forgotten about pogo, but at the back of his mind he never forgets what happened on that gloomy day felt with guilt and sadness.
shortly after he was withdrawn as he was in a horrendous condition rusted all over he was sent to an unspecified scrapyard, Barry thought this was the end of his line…
but then fog rolled in with Erie music and a whistle. a whistle that Barry recognised "it can't be" he thought Barry closed his eyes, when he opened again Infront of him was the little engine he teased all those years ago pogo buffered up to Barry and both of them disappeared.
Barry awoken in a strange place it was quite with no rail and pogo standing Infront of him but he was completely white Barry realized that he'd become a Spector.
but pogo it turns out he was ordered to take an engine that is going to be scrapped and take them to become a Spector to protect the railways of Britain and he chose Barry.
