"Take heart in this mercy," Xil said as she stood up from Scarlet's motionless form wiping blood from her hands. "I could've put you down like the rabid dog you are, but I hope you learn from this instead. For what its worth I do see potential in you. You have potential to be a great warrior and a great leader one day. If I am wrong I should've killed you here today to spare you, but if I'm right we will meet again as equals on the battlefield." She then turned her attention to Quiin who was still laying where she was.

"Oh Quiin, what has she done to you," Xil said.

"I'm sorry, Master, I... failed you," Quiin said.

"No," Xil as she knelt down beside her. "A student is only as good as their teachers. I failed you."

"You are too kind to me, Master," Quiin said as Xil lifted her up. "I don't deserve you as my master."

"Maybe not, but I deserve you," Xil said. "I didn't take you on as my protegee because I knew you would be easy."

"R-Really," Quiin asked looking up at Xil.

"I choose you because I saw something," Xil said. "True spirit, strength. I know in my heart that I made the right choice, for once in my life."

"Master...," Quiin trailed off. "Where is Drain?"

"Drain?" Xil said. "He was here too?"

"You mean, you didn't know?" Quiin asked. "He said we had a job to do, to take care of Salina's human friends."

"I... I never gave such an order," Xil said narrowing her eyes. "Tell me everything." Quiin began telling Xil about what happened, Xil's concerned frown turning more in more into a furious scowl.
