"Scarlet," Christian said, turning her around to face him. "You need to calm down." His voice was warm but firm as he spoke. "Your temper will not help your friend."

James sucked in a breath, waiting for Scarlet to fly off at Christian for telling her what to do.

"O-Ok, I'm calm," Scarlet murmured. Her shoulders relaxed as she turned back to the nurse.

James stared at Scarlet and then at Christian, amazed at how quickly he had gotten her to calm down. He began to wonder what power Christian had that could control Scarlet like that because he'd certainly never seen anyone handle her that well before. Christian had to be more than what he seemed, but would that turn out to be a good thing or a bad thing.

"I'm sorry," Scarlet said to the nurse. "I will come back tomorrow."

She then turned and walked down the hall toward James and Jena but didn't even seem to notice them as she passed, wiping her forearm across her eyes in an atempt to control her emotions.
