I know, I just did one of there... but I've finished Apple Bloom and DJ-Pon3 since then, and wanted to get a new group shot for my front page.I also snuck my Trixie sculpt in here-- I'm hoping to maybe have a Trixie sometime in the next couple weeks! So I'm looking forward to finally finishing her! Also, I'm sneaking Lyra in there... because she's Lyra.

I am trying to make a custom pony myself, and I would love it if you could tell me how you color their bodies? I am trying with acrylic paint and finish but I cannot get it to look so smooth like yours!!

Best I've been able to do is to thin out the acrylic paint just enough so it's the consistency of low-fat milk- there will be enough water in the paint so it smooths itself out as it dries, but don't get it so thin that it wants to drip. It wont cover in just one coat when it's thinned like this- so be prepared to paint on as many coats as will be necessary to get the pigment even and looking good (some of my stuff has 6 coats of paint on it) Also remember that you must let the paint totally dry between coats- because if you put a new coat on not-dry paint, the brush could lift the previous coats of paint up and then you'll have to start from scratch.
The other method would be to use an airbrush. I bought one of those with some of the money I made from selling ponies, and it's super nice.

There's a few rare ones from each generation- usually international exclusives... but for the greater part, the ponies are mostly mass produced/mass released items. The people over at MLPArena could tell you more than I could about specifics.

Thanks- but at the base of all my customs is a Hasbro toy with the doll hair cut off- so I really can't take all the credit.

I put a lot of time and such into them. Basically sculpted the manes and tails with sculpey, then made molds so I could cast resin copies of my sculpts. Made the finished ponies along the way...

Which part? Sculpey sculpts, silicone rubber molds, polyurethane resin castings. I use acrylic paints to paint them with.

What made you want to start making these? Did you plan on doing this, like seriously? Or just did it for fun a couple times to see how things turned out?

Hasbro released the one gift set with Celestia and the three sculpted hair ponies (Twilight, Pinkie and Applejack...) Well, originally the idea was to complete that set-- but the Hasbro ones sucked. I also wanted to do some of the background characters in addition to the mane six-- and because there several standard background pony manes and tails, I thought it would be cool to do molds and resin casting for those. Then I ran a poll to see if anyone would be interested in sculpted mane and tail kits-- and the response was overwhelming, so after making the first couple sculpts, I took a chance and dropped about $1000 on materials to try to make it happen. Scary way to start this whole thing.

The resin casts are finished pretty much like any resin piece would be, and then glued to a bald pony.

You really don't need anyone to tell you this kind of things, but these ponies are just THE BEST. I'm so jealous of their manes and your talent. ^_^ I hope someday to buy one of your kits and make some for myself!

What brand of paint do you usually use or where most of these spray painted

Apple Barrel Acrylic Paints. Spray paints are mostly oil-based, which doesn't always work too great with resin.
