I have to say a heartfelt thank you for making this map.

It's of the same sort of quality as the ones routinely printed in Star Wars lore and RPG books and I've a feeling I'm liable to find a lot of use for it in running games with.

I have been using this map for years for my MEFF's, for locations, names, ideas, and distances using the good ole Pythagorean Theorum. Simply nothing better or like it anywhere else!

There's one thing that confuses me. In Mass Effect 1 it is said by the Council that Eden Prime is on the border of the Terminus systems in the Traverse. Yet this map, and apparently the game maps as well show it to be well safe in Earth Alliance Space, in direct relay contact to Sol system. Am I missing something here, or is this just a mistake the devs overlooked?

FarShot In reply to Kelm1th [2017-03-14 05:57:06 +0000 UTC]

I think it's more correct to say that the Council considers the entire Attican Traverse to be the border of the Terminus Systems and Council space. Β That is to say, the Council considers the vast majority of territory claimed by the Alliance to be a sort of wild west, fueling a lot of the tension that we see in initial human-Council confrontations. Β What's labelled here, in a Mass Effect 3 timeframe map, as Systems Alliance space, would have just been called the Traverse if there were a political map in Mass Effect 1.

Okay, that kinda makes sense.

Also keep in mind that borders in Mass Effect won't work the way they do in a lot of other science fiction due to the relay network, areas inside whats consider Citadel Space in ME3 may well be Terminus space like the Krogan DMZ and other areas since Citadel Space is only the areas that acknowledge the Councils authority meaning much of the galaxy is either Terminus Space or uncharted space due to all the locked relays.

LordadmiralDrake In reply to PersephoneEosopoulou [2017-04-16 18:54:59 +0000 UTC]

Also, this map puts the batarian territory in Alliance space, while it would actually be considered Terminus

PersephoneEosopoulou In reply to LordadmiralDrake [2017-04-17 00:48:06 +0000 UTC]

Exactly although to be fair it's shown as Alliance space in ME3 for convenience.

Kitsune-no-Arashi In reply to JasonkarrMauer [2016-06-09 15:05:43 +0000 UTC]

It's not. You're looking at the words rather than they yellow marker beside them. it's JUST inside Alliance space though it being so close to council space does beg the question of why earth wasnt found long ago.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JasonkarrMauer In reply to Kitsune-no-Arashi [2017-11-27 00:36:58 +0000 UTC]

ok earth is right, but the serpents nebula/citadel marker is still inside outer council space, not inner council space

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Guikoi-Over-Heaven In reply to JasonkarrMauer [2018-11-23 03:33:21 +0000 UTC]

I know I'm late, but to be fair, I doubt the Citadel is close to a star system. if I remember correctly it looked like it was by itself for the most part, it could very well be inside Inner Citadel Space, just you get to it by the Serpent Nebula which is in Outer Citadel Space.

I don't know, take everything I say with a grain of salt. It HAS been years since I last played the games.

I noticed an error in your map. Technically, the Arcturus Stream is part of the Local Cluster, as Arcturus is only 36 light years from Earth. Traveling between Earth and the Exodus Cluster requires traveling through the Arcturus Stream, but this was cut from ME1 for brevity. ME3 complicated the issue by introducing the Arcturus Stream and treating it as a separate cluster.

Zedul In reply to BeatEdgySilver [2015-08-20 03:23:06 +0000 UTC]

Ha, I was wondering that myself. Thanks for posting.Β  But isn't there a minor relay in Arcturus? I mean it's right there next to the station -- though it does seem odd to place the Charon Relay and the AS relay only 36 light years apart.

I was using this to figure distances on the galactic map for my post ME3 fanfic... trying to figure out how far it all is -- by measuring Sol to the center of the Milky Way (26,000 LY)Β  once you have that scale -- you can take a ruler and plot out the rest, but I wonder how accurate they were trying to be?
