Description
This is a piece that I submitted for the Blizzcon 2010 Fan Art Contest. I didn't win anything though. I knew the chance of winning was pretty slim, but still..... oh well :\This was a very big painting I worked on, and I think its the most satisfying one I've done so far. Everything is painted digitally in SAI. The BC and Marine were the most difficult to do, as I was trying to get all the little details and whatnot. I guess I kinda did enjoy doing this project, despite how much time and patience it took.
Hopefully I can make more stuff like this, and get involved in more contests. Anyways, hope you like it.

It is nice to be able to easily identify the hydralisk den, the spawning pool, the evolution chamber, the hive and the extractor from this distance. hi5

i will say its really good! but if i could draw at all >< the only thing i would have changed or ugh can't word this correctly without sounding like a ass, but the aspect ratio of how far the soldier is from the hive something with the ground or not sure but doesn't give the impression of being as far as it looks... sorry if that sounded bad i still love the drawing and can't imagine what beat this in the competition!

You've got truly beautiful technique. One suggestion - try not to have so much black on objects like the battlecruiser as it's massive and further away than the foreground marine. Right now it looks a little bit like it is similar in size to the marine - having more gray than black will push it away from the foreground and give it a better sense of mass. Don't mess with this one though unless you want to, it's beautiful as is.
BTW - I LOVE Starcraft 2!

I love the battlecruiser (that was fantastic!), and the thor looks amazing.
The lone marine sitting in the corner was also well drawn and coloured.

SAI is a digital painting program that I've been using. It's pretty easy to use and blends paint well, compared to other programs like photoshop.
