Study of Frazetta's Death Dealer painting.This guy is probably my favorite artist (along with John Buscema and Brom). If you don't know his work you are probably under 13 years old or you don't know anything about illustration.

I wasn't brave enough to do everything of the original piece, but it was a great experience to try to paint like Frazetta.

that was one of the first paintings that really inspired me too. Him and Alex Horley, ahead of their time... Great work capturing the mood with the palette.

I really like Horley's work too. I just bought his sketchbook. Excellent by the way.
I wish I could draw like Akiman and paint like Frazetta. That would be a killer-combo. hehe

Nah... you can do it in much less time.
I'm too undisciplined and lazy. 4 years of comfortable practice is more than enough. 3h per day. Not that difficult.
If you are obsessed you can do it in 2 years, but practicing really hard.

Não podia ter falado melhor. Tenho feito uma série de estudos de trabalhos de caras que eu considero fodões. Só não posto eles por aqui porque acho que o deviant eh mais pra coisas acabadas e menos pra estudos e tal.

Eu uso uma Trust , que tenho desde 2007 , mas só comecei a usar pra valer em 2008 , quando descobri o truque de botar umas folhas de papel sobre a superfície da tablet para dar uma "amaciada" XD
também desejo ter uma Intuos , mas só comprando lá fora , a dferença de preço é gritante !!

You definitely should! Its very funny to try to paint as Frazetta did. I have learnt a lot doing this one. Specially on how to paint muscles and how to deal with strong values.
