Description
The creature stayed at the edge of the road as it wove through the flourishing vegetation. Hekept his half dead eyes on the horizon, in search of signs of civilization, but after a while his attention
turned to the random blurbs of though that migrated through his brain. Sometimes it was about the
forest and the scenery in general, and sometimes it was about his job and his employer, which often
made his brow furrow in uneasiness.
Eventually the forest opened up onto a busy rural town. From where he was he couldn’t tell
how big the place was, but he was closer than he wanted to be, so he retreated or the road and back into the trees. While many people were out and about, none had noticed him, which was a relief. All the people looked more or less human, meaning it was doubtful that he’d find anyone like himself. He sighed and cursed his luck and his recklessness for nearly being spotted. He didn’t know if these people discriminated against his kind of even knew of it, but he didn’t want to find out by walking right in. He stood in the shadows, scratching his chin, and watched the townspeople, analyzing how he could approach the bustling village.
A twig snapped somewhere behind him, barely audible, and he lowered his hand to right above one of the four swordless sheaths at his waist. He scanned behind him as best he could without turning around, and felt a presence close behind him. It was motionless in the trees and probably watching him intently with some kind of weapon at ready.
“Yes?” he asked finally, hoping whatever was behind him could understand english.
