Description
Edit: I have moved accounts to Kelliker this account is no longer in PR but I'm still playing red over there ^^whoop right up to the deadline. (I'm sure I'll go in and add more bits but I'm a little pressed for time cuz I didn't decide to join till like 3 days before closing /oops/) Any critique is welcome, yes this is the same art/design as Wren but I really love her character design and I won't use it for anything if I don't throw her in a group, so here she is
Name: Red
Age: 3 years
Gender: Agender she/her (isn't one to push neuteral terms but like when they use them)
Soul class: ???
Physical description:
A stalky brown and white cat with some taby markings. She has a reletively small head, extremely fluffy neck, and a bobbed tail. Slightly shorter than average but with a wide dense build, larger than her sibling Beet.
Personality:
Positive - Loyal | Patient | Wise
Neuteral - Follower | Soft-hearted | Obedient
Negative - Know-it-all | Timid | Impulsive
Red is a loyal follower to those she trusts and cares for, mainly her sibling Beet. She is wise and makes up her mind for herself, but struggles to push her ideas if someone disagrees. She /knows/ she's right even when she's not, but is too timid to convince others and usually ends up following them to what she believes will end in disaster, but at least with her there she can help pick up the pieces. She has a very soft, kind personality, but she's prone to jump in and be a little rash when she thinks it will help. Absolutely prone to codependency.
History:
Red grew up in a large traveling community of followers of the fallen. The tight knit community pushed their religion heavily on Red and her sibling beet. Red followed their religion for most of her life. She believed in it, but never felt it had a particularly heavy presence or relevance in her life, despite it being a part of most aspects of her community.
Red's sibling, Beet, was a trouble maker as a kid, but Red always covered for him, making excuses and taking the blame. She rarely got into trouble though, because everyone knew it was her sibling's fault, even if they couldn't prove it. Besides, most of the pranks were relatively harmless and the community enjoyed both Red and her sibling. Red always felt extremely responsible for Beet's recklessness would make her worry and put her on edge. When he'd get into trouble or do something dangerous she would feel like it was her fault, or her problem to fix.
Red loved plants as a kit and young adult. She enjoyed watering and caring for fresh growing plants spreading across the landscape. Her sibling took part as well, he was already particularly interested in beets. Red never understood it but took to calling him by the name beet, the name he ended up taking as his true name as adults.
As they got older Red started to realize her family and friends were significantly more religious than the other populations of cats they would run into. She wondered why and started to see cracks in the stories they'd tell about the goddess Helena cast aside to walk the earth shedding feathers from her back. The other cats saw her as evil, while her family saw her as pure and good. How could both cats be so sure? Red began to wonder if Helena was as pure, or as evil as everyone seemed to believe, maybe the stories were wrong. This anxiety grew as her church began to blame the legendarily for Helena's fall, even going as far as preaching they should be killed or have their powers striped away. At two years old Red's own parents hunted down one of the legendarily, Souta, to get information about what happened to Helena. To Red's horror, only their bodies made it home.
But losing her parent's didn't make her hate the Legendaries, somehow she felt it helped her understand them. Red realizes the gods were flawed like everyone else, Helena probably was too. From here on she thought of herself as equal to the gods other than not having powers. She was too afraid to tell her sibling this however, because he had thrown himself deeper into his warship of Helena, angry that the current gods were not using their powers to their full extent for purity like Helena did.
When the red death started to spread through her community Red was horrified. Not only was the loss of life and confusion of these new strange cats hard, but her community split up over the division of how to treat the ill cats. Should they be put out of their misery or saved to hope for a cure? As the world fell apart around her she became even more reliant on Beet for support, so when he started blaming the legendaries for the red death, all she could do was quietly agree. How could she tell him she didn't think it was their fault? That they were probably doing their best like any cat in their position would? She kept her thoughts to herself and let him stew in his anger.
When the gods call for new trial participants Red realized it was her chance to help the gods. She thought she'd know how to do things better and guide them on the right path from the inside. She still hadn't told her sibling she didn't believe Helena was as pure as he thought. He believed he could be as pure as he believed her to be, maybe even better. She joined him on the journey to the trials trying to discretely sway him away from his goal of killing/taking over the gods and becoming a better version of Helena. Red really did believe in her sibling, he could do great things as a god, if he only realized others were there to help him, perhaps if they went through the trials together they could be gods together, and help save the world from the red death.

Roleplay or writing sample
They had made it about half way by Arcadia’s best estimate before the young hyena started tripping, struggling, and falling behind. Her eyes were still wide with fear, her fur was ruffled, and she had a few cuts on her arms from running into branches. Arcadia realized she needed to slow down, or the poor girl was going to get seriously hurt. Now Arcadia slowed to a walk, and looked her over properly for the first time, she was shorter than Arcadia, lean, and thin. Her mane started behind her head, unlike Arcadia’s which formed a tall mohawk that fell in front of her eyes. She wore wide flowing pants and her torso was wrapped in cloth that bound her long fur close to her body. Arcadia didn’t like it, traditionally Striped hyenas were proud of their manes and never bound or covered them more than needed. It was considered important for expressing emotions, but with how quiet and nervous this girl was, Arcadia doubted she was one to share emotions, or express anger.
Worst of all Arcadia noticed her ears, they were docked short with a tall point, not unlike some farmers would do to tag their livestock. It would make it harder for her to express with them, and would forever be a reminder of her time as a slave. Arcadia frowned as she looked at them, how much of her life had the poor girl lost to slavery.
“My name is Arcadia,” she introduced herself, “I know you’re frightened, but I’m not here to hurt you. I just want to help. What’s your name young one?”
The girl looked at her with the same round eyes for several seconds before softly replying, “Eyla.”
After giving her a moment to say more if she wished, Arcadia continued, “Eyla, we can talk more once we’ve reached my ship, but now we must hurry.”
Eyla opened her mouth for a moment, as if to say something, but seemed to change her mind and continue following Arcadia, casting glances back towards the city.
Soon Arcadia felt the looming presence of the city fade behind her, and she started to see slivers of light breaking through the trees. She sighed in relief when she realized it was shining off the water. They’d reached the cove, and her ship, the Penumbra.
(Little scene from a rough draft of the prolog of the book I'm working on - Penumbra)
