This is a chart I made in response to some stories I read where a character becomes a giantess. In these stories, the author notes the growth comparison in numerical terms up to 100 feet. This made it difficult to get a clear picture in my head of how huge the character had become. While it's sort of an unspoken rule to avoid numerical terms when making comparisons in expansion related stories, it's actually unavoidable in the case of giantess scenario. This is because there aren't too many common objects that one can compare to in real life.

So, after months of pondering on the subject, I decided to make a chart to help visualize the concept. This is a rough representation of the height of an average adult compared to giantesses of varying height. It's actually more for helping people get a clearer image of how tall a giantess is when reading such stories. Since the average size of an adult is roughly between 5 to 6 feet, I used a block to represent 5 feet and multiplied it by 20 to get 100 feet.

Before I settled on making blocks, I did attempt to research objects in life that match the sizes presented. However, the usually result is an answer represented in the height of a building (for example 50 feet would be a 5-story building). I was only able to find a few good references for height that most people may be able to visual or attempt to make a real life comparison:

- a average telephone pole is about 20 feet above ground.
- the length of 3 average sized cars is about 50 feet.
- the length of an NBA basketball court is about 94 feet.
- the average height of a water tower  for a township is usually 130 feet.

Not the best comparisons (I'm terrible at researching stuff), but hopefully it could help. If not, you're free to look up more familiar comparisons.

EDIT: Made a downloadable PSD version with added sizes. This way, you can move the characters to get a better comparison. Hope this helps!

EDIT 2: Apparently, DeviantArt won't enable a download of the PSD (either that or I'm doing something wrong), so I've make a link that should connect to somewhere that will allow a download of PSDs.

Hey ox, I doubt you'll ever update this again but THIS at the bottom has several useful references:    www.giantessworld.net/converto…

Thanks for the link. It still does support my theory that there's not much to compare something that's 100 ft all too.

It's interesting to speculate about the weight of these characters. If all their linear measurements increase in proportion to their height, then their volume and hence their weight will go up with the cube of their height. Hopefully the bones in their legs won't break under the strain! (That's why elephants' legs are so thick.)

Oxdarock In reply to jahall2 [2015-02-12 06:15:32 +0000 UTC]

If what you're saying is true, then wouldn't bone thickness and muscle strength also increase and therefore support the change in overall size (not just height)? Also, if you want to compare an elephant's anatomy to a human's (i.e a quadruped to a biped), then if an average sized human had their size increased evenly until their overall weight became the same as an elephant's (1 ton if I remember correctly) as this graph suggests, then wouldn't it make sense to say that the thickness/strength of the person's leg is equal to two of an elephant's legs?

The point is that the leg's cross-section would only increase proportionally to the square of the height. But I don't want to be too picky. This is fantasy, after all.

Thanks. For whatever reason I can't seem to get it to work on DA, so I've included a link to a dropbox.

Also find it strange that this is the first time I'm hearing about this since I updated it like a month ago...

Excellent! I'd love to see one where the size difference is focused on shrinking though.

I don't believe there needs to be a scale for that since anybody can compare their own height downward with a ruler or measuring tape.

MalcorScribe In reply to Oxdarock [2015-01-08 19:05:35 +0000 UTC]

Well you do have a point, but the problem is that not everyone is willing to get off their arse and do it. And I mean more when they are writing the story in the first place. Not reading.

Oxdarock In reply to MalcorScribe [2015-01-08 19:11:11 +0000 UTC]

That...seems pretty lazy for a person who's writing the story. You'd think they'd do whatever it takes to be as accurate as possible.

MalcorScribe In reply to Oxdarock [2015-01-09 02:01:45 +0000 UTC]

I don't write them myself, but you'd be surprised by how many times I've been tossed out of the immersion by an inaccurate comparison. Like how someone who is 4 inches tall must suddenly apparently look UP at someone's big toe next to them.

I gotta agree with you on that; I've never really gotten it when they just use feet to show how huge a character has become (and I have a similar problem when they mention cup sizes in descriptions; numbers alone don't make a good visual and even hurt thee story); charts like these are very helpful.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Oxdarock In reply to ChaosKnightXZ [2014-11-02 20:22:36 +0000 UTC]

Not much point in that since the point is to compare the average sized person to a giantess. After 100 feet, the scale difference is too large to make an substantial comparison.
