been left alone

they always make too much
food for just one of them
so their fridge is full of leftovers

and they say it with so much conviction
as if they aren't devastated that there isn't a "we" anymore

When they have a radio station
on their preset buttons
that they never listen to
but never reprogram

they always change clothes
half way through the day
into something more comfortable
because they realize they have nobody
to dress up for anymore

it looks like they've been torn apart
their other half too far away
for them to reclaim

when their hands are searching for another to grasp
and don't break down
if they did they'd have nobody to hold on to
and would split in two
again
