Rest in Peace, Raptor.He was a huge Maine Coon (14 kiloes/30pounds) a friend of my sister owned. I only got to meet him once, unfortunately, but I remember thinking he was freaking awesome! Like a lynx!
And on monday he had to be euthanised due to cancer...
I promised his owner I would draw him like a year ago, and I finally got to do it... It's been a while since I made a full-digital drawing without line-art! I got to use some techniques I've been wanting to test out.
I'm sure he could be a character from Warrior Cats or something. He would own everyone though :3

I have a bunch of Maine Coon cats, they're lovely and very friendly, and you're right, they do look like Lynx. I love the color of that cat (mine are all mackerel tabby and party colors--with the two odd balls of a tuxedo and a blue).

Wow, this is amazing and I love the markings you made on this cat. The posture, the anatomy and the bulkiness are all features that are mostly appealing to me. Amazing like always and yes, he would make an awesome warrior cat <3

True, but then again an athlete's resting heartrate is probably much lower than a regular persons. So altogether, if they train for an hour and relax the rest, they probably need much fewer heartbeats in a whole day than others. Just my theory though!
Dogs bring more doubt to the theory... Take an average, 50-kilo Great Dane and an average 3-kilo Chihuahua... I consider it public knowledge that the bigger an animal is, the slower it's heart-rate is and you can expect it to live longer. However, Great Dane's average life spans only 6-7 years, while a chihuahua's often live to 16!
It might be a result of humans breeding them for aesthetics rather than life-quality, but It's still strange, no?
Heh, I go a little overboard sometimes if medical/psychological/scientific-ish theories and such is brought up... sorry about that

Raptor here is quite the majestic kitty. β₯ Seeing you talk about his size brings back an old memory... I remember visiting someone's house once and their cat was this grey tabby that was just completely huge. I was baffled that a cat could be that large without being fat or having some kind of crazy jungle cat interbreeding history, but he was just this muscle-bound behemoth of a housecat. Super affectionate, too, so when he hopped up in your lap and knocked the wind out of you with how heavy he was, it was impossible not to pet him. xD I wanted to take him home with me so much, since I remember they were looking for a new home for him. ;~;

Our cat is just a big fat snoot who throws things off of desks/shelves and only wants affection at the least convenient times (4am and you finally fell asleep after trying for hours? I'M HERE TO WALK IN CIRCLES ON YOUR FACE/PILLOW, MEOW MEOW MEOW.). I guess in that regard I should be thankful he's not a giganto-cat, lest he use his size to smother us in our sleep. XD But yeah, the scale-up in photoshop just about sums it up!

He was in first series of Warriors Cats. His warriorname was Tigerclaw, but he get his lidername he became Tigerstar.
