Description During the first phase:

-The CEO herself got captured,

-Hegemon was destroyed

-Hisa's betrayal which leaked invasion plans

-Calyx's death due to mercenary attack

-Untold numbers of male agents' casualties due to disintegration rays and female agents being chipified

-Loss of funds and sponsorship from investors

-Most of funds regained from the auction held by *1Dyslexia1 which saw all items bidded off to the mysterious Dr H.

Post FMP invasion board meeting consensus:

Weak management skills of the CEO caused invasion failure.

CEO must undergo 'basic management re-training' for 100 hours.

And fitted with a nice little gag, so you're forced to cybernetically transmit your testimony like a machine, instead of speaking like a lowly, servile biological.

Mechadjudicator: "R. Phantom*, we have determined that your composition is 68% inorganic, classifying you as an artificial intelligence, yet you were captured in the act of taking up arms, and using heretical bioweaponry against familial devices.

Have you anything to transmit before we pass sentence? We will disable the "mmmphing" subroutine placed on your encoding suite to allow you an opportunity to testify on your own behalf."

*Taking a cue from Big O using the prefix "R." as formal title for Synthetic Sentients.

Also, I like the chronicling of Mirage's downfall as a corporate entity.

Don't worry, they won't be allowed to dissolve entirely. MASA with be more that glad to take possession of all their holdings and property once the Bank of Earth forecloses.

The instant Mirage started building their own dreadnoughts they graduated from evil corporation to to potential stellar naval power. And considering that they have offices on Earth itself, this meant that this new naval rival had a foothold on sacred ground.

This left MASA with two options: mobilize the fleet to obliterate this protean threat, and assassinate everyone with any association to the organization, or have their officers [link] infiltrate Mirage [link] and with the aid of FMP, acquire their holdings through intrigue.

While not as glamorous as a murderous crusade, this more devious solution was significantly less expensive.

I was just going to ask - What would an archenemy do? and you helped me answer that question.

Well Mirage can always rise again, starting from Ponzi schemes and small enterprise takeovers.......but that can take a long while.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

we-r-nomad In reply to parangsakti [2010-09-06 17:07:51 +0000 UTC]

Certainly an evil megacorporation can rise to power. But they would need to insinuate themselves in the halls of legislative power through favoritism, corruption, and an army of lobbyists patrolling the halls of Earh Gov.

Conspicuous acts like the construction of private fleets will only draw MASA's attention, and Mirage likely won't get off with a bloodless take down more than once. If MASA caught wind of a second Mirage military build-up, they would conclude that "they hadn't learned their lesson" and let those in their organization calling for Mirage to be "swept from the face of existence," have their way.

It wouldn't be pretty. But it would be fun to draw.

Probably right. I thought that my henchmen were foolproof. Little did I know that most of my employees were rivals in their own right. My hubris has been my undoing!

Maybe this is why other bondage-themed villains have all their henchmen tightly bound. I should make a visit to Countess M's to get some pointers.

Want to come?
