OK. The basic idea is good. Don't throw the scene, just put it away for some time...
I suspect the background is a flat picture (created with a 3D model). My advice would be to create a flat floor and a camera with the same point of vue as the background. Place a strong light with shadow from behind (for the god rays), and a couple of lights with low intensity and without shadow from front (a low light for floor reflection and a spot to light the two characters). Try a global IBL lighting (with a medium grey color) if you have the D|S add-on to get a global lighting similar to the background.
Hope it could help!

SweetYyyy,if you need help with lights and shadows,i will help you outmit`s veryyy simple:
click on create:choose>>new spotlight, place it where you need your light, then go back to create>>choose copy spotlight, only on the copied spotlight, you click on shadow, and choose>>deep shadow map.
Now that the lights are dubble,it too bright!!!
SELECT BOTH!!!and do intensity back!!
If you want to move the lights,it`s important you select them both!!
Otherwise your shadows dissapear.
if you want to put more lights in it,just do the same as the first spotlights you`ve put in!!
I never use lightsets, just because i don`t like themthey are rendering toooo long, and i think they are too bright!!
Soooo i always do it this way.
I hope i am helpful for you girL,gooooodluck with it.
And this creation is sooooo cute, luvvv the scene too, full of fantasy

Eh, it's not too bad, just add proper shadows for the characters.
