Mona and I go way back.

Crap...I was thinking for the longest time what I could possibly write here and when I finally got my wording down I sat down and promptly forgot it all.

So I'll just say this. Mona is a wonderful person with the mind of a philosopher and scientist who are brilliant and insightful artists in their spare time. She has a heart that poets struggle to describe and which leaves even the most pious of people frothing with envy. She's one of the best artists out there and a brilliant writer to boot. The two of us are hopelessly lost in England in the 1800s. Wining and Dining with the likes of the Duke of Wellington, Lord Byron, and perhaps even Mad King George (although he would probably be rather tedious, going on about hankies and such) would be one of the biggest thrills of our lives.

This shot was taken about 30 seconds after she gave this to me. We had dinner, she bought me the new Susanna Clarke book for my birthday (WOO!) and as I saw her to her train station (I went outside with her because I had to make a call) she threw this to me. In a perfect world, I would have caught it but let's face it-there was a reason I was in a T-Ball league as a child. I picked it up and she walked away. I stopped her and asked her if she just found it. "No." was all she said before walking away. Before I knew what I was doing, I had a camera in my hand and was taking a picture of what I saw. I'm amazed it turned out so well, as it was at a fairly low shutter speed.

So this picture is dedicated to her and to all she's done in both my life and her own.
