Description
The ever so talented Steve Richard took some time out of his busy schedule to have Amy and I in for a movement session. I brought a few things along and a few new ideas. The main one being Flour which you will see in a few shots from this session. I adored working with Amy, she is always a pleasure. Here are a few of my solo shots [MY FAV OF THE SET]
Enjoy

Brilliantly done, I love the thought you put into the flour to evidence and enhance the movement in this series! Besides that, from looking at this and the other photos from this shoot, you've shown yourself to be a wonderfully skilled dancer. Keep up the great work, eh?

Dance and still photography start out at crossed purposes, of course - dance a kinetic art form in space, movement, and time; photography a static form in space, with movement and time frozen. But you have performed the miraculous feat of reconciling dance's and photography's respective purposes and fusing them, generating a vision of movement and indeed a feeling of movement - and physical and emotional energy in the movement - within the still frame. You do this with your body which seems to be moving virtually, although literally in the still picture it is not; and in your ingenious use of the powder as visual evidence of movement before, during, and after the micro-second of the camera shutter's click. A brilliant series of photographs, some of the best I've seen of dance anywhere.
