Description
She stared at the puckering paint on the walls, contemplating her options.
Call…let be…call...let be…
Call.
She fumbled for a moment,
hands trembling with too small numbers.
Ring…ring…ring…
X
"Hello?"
No answer.
He glanced at the ID, it was her.
"I know it's you…please say something."
X
"You think I don't know what you're up to?"
Her voice penetrated the silence.
"I know everything-
The drinking,
Her.
…I just, I just can't do this…
Anymore."
The phone slipped from her hand,
clattering on the hardwood floor,
as she silently sobbed.
X
Her words played over again in his mind-
Can't do this anymore...
Can't do this anymore…
Can't do this…
She didn't understand.
He couldn't tell her- ever.
If she found out, it would break her.
There was no need to hurt her that way
...but was this any better?
X
It wasn't supposed to be this way.
He was supposed to love her.
Her.
Not some two dollar whore he picked up at the bar.
With her bleach-blond hair,
and boobs that cost more than her wardrobe.
X
Why couldn't he just tell her?
Why couldn't she support him?
Why did this thing- (this parasite)
have to keep them apart?
Why was this one little thing- (this one word)
so completely horrible?
How could something so small hurt him so much?
Why couldn't she accept him?
She claimed to love him,
so if she cared so much,
how could she let something like
...cancer ...
get in the way?
