Thanks - I must remember to take bigger sheets of paper so I can get the head and feet in next time, although the anonymity and depersonalisation of this composition are a bit of a classic for this type of drawing.

you're welcome.. i really like this... and i think the point about head and feet is quite a good one.... it does, in my opinion, make the piece stand out more than a regular portrait/full body piece.

I think this is probably my favourite sketch from the day (I have some others in pencil as well as the ones posted), probably for the exact reasons you state plus the colour and line qualities co-operated making it very immediate.

although i didn't comment on all of them, they are all great pieces... and i guess, as the actual artist, it doesn't surprise me, that you too, would have a favourite.

I wouldn't say great but in the time scale given I was happy with them (enough to post at least). Drawing from life seems to be far trickier to post than still life etc. Some pieces just work better than others at the time. Different in the editing potential than photos.

i can imagine that it is harder than still life.. although, i must admit that when i ever did any portraits, i worked from a photograph.
i am glad you were happy enpugh with them to post though.

Posted some more from this weeks class - as always your opinion is welcome The red one in the scraps is 'almost' in proportion...

What a lovely, loose gestural sketch! I love the loose line you used for this, and the colored and white chalk/pastel on gray (?) paper is beautiful--the purple for the shadowing, especially. Great rim-light effect, too! I like it a lot!

This was done in conte pastels - I think this was a 2 or 3 song pose so it was done very fast. Thanks for commenting as always
