Developed in early 2044, in the middle of alien invasion a DP-44 rifle was a response to ineffectiveness
of most human firearms against armor or even the skins
of aliens species such as the "Salamanders".
The rifle was at first highly disliked by members
especially by the members of Prometheus Squad unit, where it first went for
testing due to its early prototype status.
It repeatedly underwent emergency upgrades and revisions.
And despite the fact that today the 2071 rifle is the implicit
equipment of nearly 17M of the UNCC army, some drawbacks
such as high recoil and magazine capacity could not be
eliminated.
During the alien invasion, it was mainly produced
in the US, EU and PRC
Not counting special forces, it began to enter the equipment of ground units in
noticeable numbers only at the end of 2047 taking opportunity to take a part the defense of Volgorad or
the counteroffensive of NATO forces in Israel.
In the beginning, however, due to the completely different caliber and small number of pieces supplied to units at first.
For the first three years, its use centered around the trend of using them mainly as marksman rifles.
Today, the weapon can be found in all 4 star systems inhabited by mankind, as well as by aliens who, during their invasion of Earth,
managed to obtain countless quantities of this weapon by taking individual copies for reverse engineering.
Although the rifle itself was, and still is, referred to by them as what in human language are referred to as "primitive firearms"

The name of the rifle was meant to suggest alien inteligence of humanity's future
plans of a counteroffensive in alien homeworld.
