Do you trace over your pictures or do you just use them as refrence?

With this one I traced over Edward Norton [as shitty as it looks] but as for everything in the background, I just did it freehand.

yeah,it helps you you have the picture as a black and white and then trace and colour it in grayscale. It also helps if the picture is REALLY big.
