Description
Scanned in some early photography of mine. (Circa 2003)Shot with on black & white film with a Nikon SLR. Developed in darkroom, 8" by 10". No photoshop whatsoever. The brownish tint came into the print with time. Possibly bad chemicals used to develop it, I don't know. But I do know that I quite enjoy the aged look.
Don't like my title. Having a hard time titling photographs...

That picture is awesome and only made better by the chemical thing going on.... it looks like you didn't "fix" it long enough... the last step before you rinse it... It's been ages since I have been in a darkroom!
I'm glad you aren't disappointed with this picture anymore because it rox my sox off!

Yeah I was very inexperienced at developing when I made this print. A number of things could have gone wrong. But these have turned out to be some of my favorite pics because of their imperfections. Unfortunately I only made 1 print of each...

ya... aging happens to all prints, and papers... but in this case it works really well.

thank you. this was just an accelerated aging. this paper is only 3 years old.

yeah it was/is. This was my first time doing prints in a darkroom and I just had my dad sorta helping me. I probably didnt stop the developer long enough or rinse off the chemicals all the way. I think I remember being dissapointed at the time, but now from a different perspective I do like the imperfections.

nothing like good old fashioned bad chemicals and aging to make photoshop look silly. [and i really like photoshop!] these are all cool. i think they would be cool if you showed them back when you took them, but for me, there's nothing like the effects of time to turn a photo into a found object to drool over.

yeah, these images just wouldn't be the same without the aging that's forced itself upon them.

well, obviously with this one, it used to have more contrast, but the discoloration kinda darkened the whites and lightened the darks. I'm kinda torn between needing more contrast and liking the antiqued look of this one. the others are better tho... right?

well yeah I kinda felt the sam way, cause I have a special place in my heart for the antique look, but I am also super crazy about contrast. when I print my my photos I love to over contrast it a bit. so really f you think about it, its all in how one perfers it. and everyone perfers differnt.
The others are great too!

yeah totally. for these three i was really appreciating the soft look. classic and almost timeless. contrast is definitely key and has it's place, but not in these pieces for me.
thanks!

yes I would say that I do agree that going the antique route is definitly what makes these stand out!
