I debated about that contrast... because in the past when I've done drips they've always been the last paint on the surface. This time I came at it with a little different perspective. Definitely more layers, colors, and collage elements on this one. All that to say, after I had painted over the drips, I wondered if that was a good choice or if I should add that old familiar contrast. I let it sit for a few weeks and when I came back I liked it the way it was. So there's my story.

a few weeks of sitting is a good thing. glad you left it.
and btw...i haven't actually forgotten about the collaboration mail you sent a looong time ago. it just got delayed in all the chaos of the moving. i hope to revisit it soon.

No bother about the mail collab... If anything needed some long sit time, it was that one. I hardly remember what it looked like except that I was really unsatisfied with it. So I think some good long maturing time was/is in order. Take your time. But before you send it back, I'll have to give you my new address. I'll note you with it.

well you didn't need to be satisfied did you. i mean because it would be harder to take when i mess it up. in a nice way. yes.

I think you might need sth that would give some contrast. Sth dark maybe...
However it's interesting and make me wait for a while to take a closer look.

Contrast vs. Subtlety: The age-old debate.
They debated within me as well, but in the end subtlety won over. I'm still feeling out this style of mine.

stunning... and i get to comment first !!! I love the washed out look and the limited palette... the big black figure looks neat as does the area down the bottom with the cuddling couple...

Thanks. The washed-out look has kinda been my forte as of late... I tried to do a little more obstruction of forms this time.
