She's my most favorite Black Five in preservation. I'm sure that, even 41 years after his death, Mr. Ivatt is glad that George Stephenson is preserved today and is one of the most popular engines today. Even so, 44767 is my #1 favorite preserved member of the LMSR's "Black Fives," while my 2nd most favorite is 44871, the lucky "Black Five" that worked with its sister, 44781, on "the Fifteen Guinea Special" with BR "Standard" Seven Pacific #70013 Oliver Cromwell. I can imagine that Mr. Ivatt was overjoyed that one out of the 100 modified Black Fives was saved after its withdrawal in December 1967, particularly the last ten wheeler to enter traffic on the LMSR, on December 31, 1947. I hope she gets to go mainline again soon. Very impressive photo-shoot, too!
