When I first joined DA a few months ago, the unstated but universally acknowledged nudity policy was 'Dickless Forever'. My, my, things HAVE changed. Nowadays, quite a few brave souls ventured into the brave new world of anatomically correct male nudity. I finally couldn't take it anymore, seeing all these penises on pages that weren't mine. And i love this photo. And there was never a way to crop it that didn't kill me. So here it is.Related content

It's always nice to see a smile on a models face as it helps communicate emotion to the viewer. The only "gross" thing I see about this page is that some people feel the NEED to recommend genital mutilation as if someone would do that to improve this shot.

As a relative newcomer to DA (been posting about 9 months now)... I can't imagine what it was like in the 'earlier' days. Glad we had pioneers like yourself that made it easy for us!

Thanks for sharing yourself with us. I think it is good pic that really does what I think you intended it to; show you. Even though DA has changed a bit in the 4 years or so since you posted this, it is still nice to discover such a genuine and sincere photograph of an artist daringly placing themselves in their own medium. Many seem to be quick to comment or judge your physical imperfections, though they are insignifigant in the end anyway. We are all worms' meat in 100 years. In the meantime, you are a wonderful example of someone sharing a beautiful part of themself. The look in your eyes, the emotion in the photo, the openness, your nice physique, your posture; they are all a part of you and combine in this photo quite well.

quite a nice shot, but i do agree the pose seems strange. i agree that theres not enough display of the male figure in general in western society, its fine to look at a vagina all day long, but as soon as a guy show his bits its suddenly offensive. its nice to see it on DA these days
as for the clipping remark. thats a fairly antiquated view point if i ever heard one. the human penis is born with foreskin, it serves a purpose, and removing it is mutilation. sorry to get on a soap box in your gallery, but i'm bugged by that kind of thing lol.

what an aray of people you have brought together. Taking that picture gave me the chance to see what kind of people this site is made of and im glad that intelligent people are the majority. It was a good attempt of captureing the beauty of the human body, but this pose looks so cramped and insecure. Your facial expression looks almost serious and maybe even nervous. If you ever try to take a picture like this again, try to find a better background and maybe get some courage and just take the picture. But just make sure you really want to do it. No one is forceing you.
But on another subject : these people that are saying that they want to see more penis need to think about what they are saying. The male body is not accepted as well. Be happy that even these men are taking these sort of pictures. I know i dont have the courage so i have much respect for you dude.
And to everyone who finds this offensive or pornographic, grow up ( that should burn coming from a 17 year old)

i don't like it....its a good idea just a poorly taken pic....it doesn't look artistic or like you put a lot of thought into it..it just looks like you set the timer on your camera ran over and got in some random uncomfortable un-natural pose...nudity shots are about the beauty of the human body...this shot is a "ooo look at me w/ my naked self" pic...i just don't like it

er, if i might make an actual comment about the picture... i'm wondering if cropping it so his left (*his* left, not ours) side was nearer to the right side of the picture would be better. the way his body's positioned is sort of like a right triangle... aaaand i really don't know how to say *why* i think putting him there would be better, but oh well.

i dont see how anyone could be 'uncomfortable' by looking at this photo. people who say they are, are obviously ashamed about something.. i have thought about uploaded nakedman to da before. but i have no one to take photos of! ah well, i'll find oneone soon. *takes off clothes and sets timer* heh. keep it up. xx

Something about this strikes me as odd... maybe it's a combination of things... The background, as mentioned before, is not one that would typically have a nude man in it. All the neat textures are an interesting comparison to his smooth body, though. The other thing I find odd is his pose. He's got his arms clamped to him like he's insecure, but he seems pretty confident from the waist down, with his legs posed and his wee-wee out in the open like that. It's like he can't decide whether he should show himself off or be shy...
What I find interesting is that now that I see all of him, I find myself thinking "Damn, I'd like to see him with clothes on!" instead of "Damn I'd like to see him naked!" It's not that he's not attractive- I guess people always want what they don't have. Clothing can be just as attractive as nudeness. I just thought it was funny to catch myself thinking that.
I think that one little nipple peeking through is the best part. Guys' nipples are always so cute, and the fact that the other one is hidden makes it even cuter.
As far as the whole blah blah blah porn blah blah blah children blah blah goes, all I have to say is that I respect you, Paul, as an ARTIST who's trying to capture TRUTH in the human world. Porn is fake. Hiding is cowardly. This is real and very brave. Kudos to you.

I must agree that the choice of background is a bit odd. I don't see a whole lot of naked men hanging around rocks. But maybe that was what you're going for: I dunno. Reguardless, great focus, choice of pose/model, ectect but that's to be expected of a photographer of your caliber. Well done.

i am ashamed of most of my fellow human beings in the 21st century. a naked body is NOT porn, its how you were made. if there was something wrong with that then evolution/god would have sorted it out by now, dont you think?

Art's art. I don't think it's gonna matter one way or another. it's nice to see that things like the one between my own legs can be considered beautiful and artistic. People make a big deal about it, beacause that's just how they work, they don't HAVE to look at it, that's the beauty of the computer.

i have to agree here the tan lines look akward against the background of choice and he looks allmost uncomfy to do the photo the way he clenches at himself. nude models look more relaxed.. good try though!

To commenter no. 1, your point eludes me. Half of these children you're so concerned about HAVE penises. The only thing on this page I would not want THEM to see are comments like yours, that suggest there is something shameful about that.
To the oh-so-reliable 'this is gross' crowd, no one is fooled. You chose to click on the thumbnail, and we all know it.

There's nothing obscene about male nudity as long as it's done tastefully and artistically, which is the case here. "Yeah, but I can see his penis!" So...it's just a penis. Guys are born with one. Get over it.

Ever heard of this little phrase "Show me yours and I will show you mine"? If you are not brave enough to show yours to the ladies, don't bash other people for being braver than you. Wanting to see this or not is your choice. No one can control your finger from a distance.
We all have seen a lot of women nude photography. Ask yourself if you would say the same thing to those photo. Don't just say attention whore or whatever, critic it like a professional. Background doesn't look good to you? Say it. Lighting is not good to you? Say it. Something wrong with your sense of male and female nude photography, DON'T say it. It is a waste of your breath.
