Description
hand-built charcoal fired stonewareHigh fired stoneware. "Charcoal fired" refers to a firing process developed by Philip Cornelius [link] in which wares are dry stacked in a kiln without shelves, fired to cone 11+. Mesquite charcoal is introduced to the kiln at cone 8 and 11. The goal is to reproduce the surface effects of a wood fired kiln, but in the convenience of a gas kiln.

Great. I wish I could zoom in more.
I wood-fired many pieces.. none of them look like this one. Probably because there is no ash or shine on yours

Sorry about the image being low rez. Early next year I'll be able to add updated photos for a few of my works as I'll be re-documenting and transporting them to Japan.
I've only had the opportunity to have one of my pieces in a wood-fired kiln, [link]
All the pieces that were charcoal-fired varied in firing temperature depending on where they were in the kiln. Some got melt if they were near the top. Not nearly as dramatic if in a wood-fired kiln. Still cool results. I know it's hard to see, but this guy has some ash melt up in his hair.

Thanks a lot! I wish I remembered the name of the model, so I just have to settle with Old Man as the title.

Thank you! Believe it or not, as rough and stylized as this is, it still looks like the model. \@@/
