Thank you. I'll have that big tandem back on the water this summer. Hard to think this was almost thirteen years ago.

When I read the journal entry I thought it was Lothlorien......
Lovely image! The best camera to take a picture is the one you have with you.

Awesome capture! I actually recognize this area. This would make a great painting and I sort of got that feel until I enlarged it. I like everything about this shot sir

Thanks. That big Stowe tandem is complaining that it hasn't seen enough water lately.

There is something about boats, lakes and leaves that just leaves you in awe. And from what I see in the description, this photo is part of history! I wish I could remember what was my first post here.

Lovely

ooh, this is rather pretty. it is also ever so slightly tim walker-esque i think. just the colour scheme reminds me of his stuff. though it is lacking in some weird multi coloured sheep or something...

pearwood In reply to hello-ally [2009-06-03 12:39:25 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. It's an older shot, hand-held with a single-use camera, but it's still one of my favorites.

Canography [2008-07-02 16:28:44 +0000 UTC]

It is a Hallmark image. The enclosed commentary is so befitting a beautiful image. It makes me want to climb back into a canoe myself. Southern Alabama is not very condusive for non motorized recreation. Technology can be so cruel. I am still going through the rest of your gallery-very breath taking. I am adding you to my watch list. I hope you don't mind.

Thanks. Such is the nature of water from the swamp. All in all, it's probably safer than the nice, clear water from more open places.

diamondie [2005-12-29 09:36:47 +0000 UTC]

Lovely photo, something about it reminds me of Monet's paintings. I think he had a similar one with a boat. I like the colors and composition a lot. The leaves on the foreground add a very nice touch. The picture isn't as sharp as it could possibly be, so I'd recommend trying the Unsharp Mask filter (just don't overdo it).

I think I've made one sharpening pass but I'll look again. I find the Unsharp Mask can do strange things with water surfaces, more than the simple sharpening filters.

A wonderful picture, the colours and reflection are amazing. The leaves are falling from the trees. Spring?? The blue in the front of the canoe is a nice detail in contrast with the other colours. A

Cor,
Thanks. It was a glorious Autumn day a couple years ago. My wife and I took the Stowe (our anniversary present!) out for the afternoon. The other shots we took that day show more of the reds and oranges.

Funny how I didn't notice this on my previous visits - beautiful picture, some days I'd just love to climb in and go, all by myself. Haven't done any paddling or sailing since I was about 15 (many, many years ago) and this picture reminds me of the peace you get when you're out on the water. Had to it's lovely!
