Description
The idea of the title is that the statue ruin is like a stepping stone or a sign on the way to somewhere in a barren land, and there have been many visitors, but all of them far apart in time: say for example, once or twice in every decade. The drifter boy is greeted by the two monkeys as he sits on the statue base. He notices them but knows not to look them in the eye, for Gods and Spirits alike have formidable tales to them of humans who lost their eyes or their minds staring into their beautiful souls for too long. Their minds become captivated in the inbetween. Neither properly alive nor dead, not even half dead. Just lost.So the boy chirrups and sings to them, but only spares them a glance before he leaves again for his homeland.
Done in art college as a practice sketch using one of my favourite pens that bleeds out when painted over with water. Toned slightly with coloured pencil.
I'll post an edited version later when I get in the mood of this picture with a background.
For now it's still just a sketch
