i stayed up way too late finishing this last night. But after everything that's happened, I guess I just needed to draw something wholesome... Deku's always a good choice.

This is a scene from the next upcoming oneshot for my crossover fix-it AU. Itachi's just betrayed Sasuke's trust and broken his spirit by murdering their father and half the people at his Hero agency and claiming it was just to test his strength. Later at school, Deku sees this lonely boy sitting by himself and approaches carefully, not bothering to ask what's wrong and instead offering up his lunch. and his time. Just wanting to be a positive presence for somebody he senses is hurting. just like the little Hero he is...

My sister and I theorize that someone like Deku would've been able to reach Sasuke a lot better than Naruto. Naruto's abrasive and demanding behavior triggered Sasuke's unhealthy traits by making him want to withdraw, escape, or turn up his nose. Deku is soft-spoken and reassuring, and dejecting him is tantamount to kicking a puppy. He's not pushy at all, and just radiates genuine care, something Naruto can't relate to earlier in their relationship. And while Bakugou scorns this genuine care like it was put on this planet to make him feel weak, Sasuke's not that much of an idiot. Coupled with the fact that, in this AU, his mother lives? He's in a good enough headspace that we think he'd really appreciate Deku's non-invasive methods of initiating friendship.

I might get this oneshot done by this weekend, but I'm not sure... I have to update my other fanfictions too at some point, plus I have my own novel and a short story to work on... so we'll see.
