Description

Lyta's little sister. Still deciding on her name.

For some reason, Quetzlcoatl grants women in their family magical Aztec girl powers (to fight for truth and justice, of course).

Yes, just like that

Lyta is the natural choice, being tough, smart, and a warrior already, but she's also very busy flying airplanes for Uncle Sam and all. Her sister's an aspiring actress and model, and being largely more aspiring than practically employed she's got plenty of time on her hands. So really, why not go to work for an ancient snake god?

Feels like there might be more versions of this coming...

What about Selena for a name?

Selena's a good choice. I have a couple of naming principles I generally follow:

Does it sound like a name someone would actually have?

Does it sound nice, in and of itself?

Does it fit the character's personality?

And somewhat less:

Does someone else (character or real famous person) have the same name so that people will associate the two? So if her last name was Gomez (or Quintanilla) it wouldn't work.

Does the name's meaning really not work? This hasn't really ever come up. Angela, who is a demon, is named ironically, of course.

In this case too a lot of her background has been determined ahead of time, since it's the same as Lyta's. So we know he parents are working class immigrants from Mexico, that she grew up in Los Angeles, and is one of several children. And that her parents are partial to classical Greek names. So Selena works for all of that.

Well.

For a suggestion, wasn't expecting it to be a good one.

I had taken a look at the mythological Hippolyta's sisters, but their names aren't common at all in modern times (Penthisilea, Melanippe, and the other one that starts with O). There really aren't many classical names that have their own version in Spanish. Oddly enough, Callixto is a common enough man's name in Latin America, but there's no female version- the Greek Callisto was a woman.

I went through lots of lists of Spanish girl's names, many are very nice but didn't grab me, or didn't make sense for some reason. Like I like the name Reina, but it means "Queen" in Spanish, and what does it say about your first daughter if you name the second one "Queen"?

Aztecan magical girl anime seems like a grossly over looked idea more brutal fighting such as ripping the still beating heart out of monsters on a weekly basis

And a skull rack! People generally are less aware of the skull rack.

Generally it would be magical girl anime meets Lucha Libre. And gratuitous nudity, of course.
