I find it very interesting that of the women who comment on my artwork, their largest complaint is that the female characters' breasts are often visible or large. Their complaint is not that the poor girl's been turned into a bizarre monster with a butt the size of a European car, no, the complaint is almost always, gee, I love the picture, but can you get rid of the boobs?I'm convinced that women don't like having breasts, and many of them (my fiancΓ©e included) have said point-blank that they don't like 'em. (Personally, I don't like 'em this big either, but, well, I'm a guy, and I'd be lying if I said I didn't like 'em at all.)
So ladies, this one's for you. Sort of.
(I promise I'll draw a hot guy for you all sooner or later!)

A couple hours' worth of quick sketching produced this fun little one-panel comic. Done entirely in CorelDRAW, with a super-quick coloring style I haven't really tried before. It's not perfect, but the result doesn't look too bad.

I don't think everybody realizes that larger breasts are a necessity for centaurs.
1. Horses develop at twice the speed of humans, reaching full size within 8 years while humans grow in about 18. Not only that, but assuming that in infant centaurs the horse-part mass will be at least double that of the human, that leaves 2 options. Either the mammaries are on the horse half, or the human breasts are enlarged to support the larger infant with a faster growth rate.
2. They act as a counter-weight. As horses run, their strong necks keep their heads leaning forward, especially since their connection is naturally leaning forward. BUT, centaur 'necks', their human torso, are sticking straight up. If human torsos can't handle the speed as well as a horse neck, they would be forced to lean back against their momentum. Having a larger chest helps counteract these problems. Not only would the torso-horse connection muscles and human back muscles need to be stronger to hold up the entire human torso without back pain, but relaxing those muscles while running allows the breasts to off-balance the torso forwards and counteract the running momentum with less required abdominal strength.
Of course, there's a limit to how large they can reasonably be. Centaurs likely can't have twins due to the size of centaur infants (hence not needing excess chest mammaries), and too much excess size would be a strain on their musculature. I'd imagine that centaur breasts also don't have as much fat as humans, since their larger bodies would require fat distributions in a more accessible location; the torso stomach and normal horse stomach makes more sense, especially if the lungs, heart, and major organs are in the horse half.

Speaking as an artist who loves drawing ladies, I believe that the female body is one of Mother Nature's most beautiful creations. I enjoy using art to showcase the innate, natural beauty of the female form, and as your fellow artist, I think you've done an excellent job at just that. Great work! π

I am a woman and I like having boobs. It makes me feel female, my most visible attribute of my sex. Also I like boobs in pictures, there is nothing wrong with'em, it is how nature made women.

Having known lots of women throughout my decades of life, some like big breasts and some don't, and some have big ones and others don't, and the opinions have almost nothing to do with the various size possessions. Β I happen to prefer larger ones, but I'm not fool enough to ignore the others. Personality is vastly more important, anyway.

I think that after several years of having this posted, what I've learned is not that women will complain about their breasts being too large, but rather that women will complain about their breasts in general: They're either too big, or too small, or too round, or too flat, too pointy, too uneven, too...
There's not a woman on planet Earth even remotely satisfied with the way she looks, and one of these days, I really ought to do a new picture that better reflects that truth.

these aren't big, they're average...I've known people who have the torturous task of lugging around H-bombs and would knock you out in a single blow...NEVER GET HER TO TURN AROUND or...BAM!
Size is relative... each to their own; everyone has a different opinion of big, but to say that big or visible is bad...why I ask? should they not be appreciated as the 'tool' they are not the 'accessory'? some artists simply draw big/visible boobs to assert femininity to a character but that should be blamed on the current society who define a girl by her boobs ...and a sad society has deemed it so...shame on you. But you can't deny that it would be easier to do sports without the 2/3 pounds of extra weight on your chest. I do A LOT of sports and it's sort of ok - except when you're doing sports where you have to run.
