A new picture of Allison (Ally) Taverner, in a very... um... something... pose. Actually, this is a very unusual position for a centaur, but somehow it actually looks pretty good on her, and she doesn't look very uncomfortable at all...Er... I should stop talking now.
Ally's an original character of mine, intended to live in the Wotch universe, and lo! and behold, Anne actually featured her in a recent comic! So you could argue either way as to whether this is fan art.
This was 40-ish hours (maybe more; I didn't really count very well). It took so long largely because of the number of levels of shading, and because it was hard to find good reference pictures to suit this pose. I marked it mature, even though there's nothing showing, because it hints at quite a bit more than it probably should.
Is it just me, or are centaurs really hard to draw?

Her back is very flexible, so it's not broken. Admittedly, it's a stretch. But I'd never seen a centauress in this position before when I drew it, so I felt it was worth drawing.

I recommend you research how Asian-style toilets work; having used one before, I suspect they'd actually work quite well for a centaur.

hehe this one is very cute and I like the way you've done the colour shading! it's sort of like a style ^_^ awsomeness oh is there any reason why she's topless? is it part of her char or because she is a centaur? I like the fact you did the hourse bodie the right size I hate it when people draw a huge hourse bodie and stick a weedy human on it... I don't think centaurs would be so out of proportion.

Seriously, she normally wears a blue polo shirt, but this was an interesting pose that's really hard to draw, and I didn't really want to have the shirt covering it up.

Well... it's the style. I use pure fixed-color vector objects for everything I've drawn, although I'm now starting to branch out into gradient-shaded objects (see my more recent drawing of the Anne statuette to see what that looks like).

If I were a centauroid, my upper back would be dislocated in several areas
better for rendered centaurs to do so that "real" centaurs

Ohhh, you do such beautiful centaurs too! And even if it didn't turn out so nice, you still would have gotten all my respect for trying such a hard pose.

Ooo, thanks muchly! I really liked this pose and wanted to give it a try; I think it turned out pretty well. I have to draw a new picture of Ally one of these days; she's a cute character, and a lot of fun to draw, but I seem to keep being too busy to get to it :/

Well... she looks somewhat comfortable, at least. I don't think it'd be a desirable sleeping position (I think having her spine straight, or just with a very gentle curve, might be best) but maybe I'm wrong. Too bad we can't ask a real centaur and find out ^_^

Thanks. I was inspired by a manga drawing of a (human) girl in a similar pose (okay, well, half of her was, at least), and wondered what it'd look like if Ally tried to do something like it. I'm not sure it's all that comfortable, but it is cute.
