Growing up with divorced parents was never easy. Arguments, daily fights, opposite opinions, many others things that contributed to a toxic family environment, until it was finally was all over.

Spitfire and Lightning Dust were separated at a very young age - in the middle of a turbulent divorce, Spitfire decided to stay with her mother, who had a harder time dealing with the whole situation, providing all support and help needed, while Lightning refused to left her father's side, Wind Rider, whom she admired and considered her hero, even though he was the cause of her parents divorce.

Raised in different environments, Spitfire was always supported by her mother and friends, a popular girl. Climbing the social ladder was not a difficult task, she was a natural leader and was soon nominated as the Captain of the Wonderbolts, becoming well known all over Equestria.

Lightning, on the other hand, suffered the consequences of her father's selfishness and her own. Wind Rider used to drink a lot and would put his daughter under numerous sessions of exhaustive training. For him, his daughter should be his reflection, legacy, and he needed her to achieve perfection before her sister would, at all costs. Unfortunately, it was never good enough. Dust never finished in more than second or third place in races and competitions, nor ever made it to the Wonderbolts. She was living in her sister's shadow, she failed in everything she desired to achieve and each loss fueled her hatred, to the point even her father left her.

Eventually, Spitfire and Lightning Dust both walk into each other in the streets of Cloudsdale. Between exchanging looks of contempt and indifference, they knew they would never be a family again.

But sometimes they wonder how it could have been if things had turned out differently...
