I intended for this to be Esmeralda from Notre Dame de Paris by Victor Hugo. Possibly one of the best books ever written. I wanted to capture the gothic, romantic feel of the novel while also capturing a moment of peace and security for Esmeralda, a character so often victimized in the novel. Oil paint, oil pastel, and black marker on canvas.
